Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
That may very well be, chica.
Besides calling the movie "Liver", we also call the star Riggo Mortis. Seems to fit for some reason.
Erm, well, they were "something weird". So, either aliens or something else. They certainly were not of this earth, or any parallel earth, seeing as they don't like water.
So, aliens or demons. And if they're demons, well, I don't see why water and a baseball bat would do them in.
That's the parallel I was seeing as I watched it; that isolationism wouldn't work.
But think how the "Bush knew!" crowd would react to the movie's secret....
Hey, but wait a minute! Didn't Mel chop off one of the alien's finger from under the pantry door?
How about faith?
What's different in your mind about them being demons.... they still wreaked actual havoc, and they were real, not imagined.
What was reported on the news on TV? Weren't the TV stations reporting craft over many areas on the news?
If the Bush knew crowd reacted that way to the secret, then they would also have to disregard that actual terrorists exist. They aren't just a figment of Bush's imagination. Someone obviously made a parallel, I just think it is more a triangle.
Not exactly... the point was, that there was meaning in Mel's wife's dying words. If Mel hadn't suddenly realized what she was trying to tell him way back then, the kid still would have died because Mel wouldn't have taken the steps necessary to revive him.
Her being able to warn him about what was needed, was the sign Mel was looking for.
No...unless she changes dramatically.
Hm...I'm just remembering the eight letters deal and wondering if I'm way off. Guess I'll know soon.
And nobody else had faith?
In movies, I prefer the logical explanation. Even if it's stupid, too. If you want to include the spiritual world, you have to at least indicate it's a possible explanation.
Spoiler: it's a happy ending. Nobody dies.
Hmmmm....I need to watch that movie again.
Maybe we should watch it together at ShootMoot.
And nobody else had faith?
You didn't catch the part at the end about the creatures being defeated by an "ancient method" which was discovered in the Middle East? You know, the home to three of the world's major religions?
Huh.... I guess that's part of the mix.
Faith didn't defeat the bad guys though. A couple hints from the veterinarian Shmymalan about water and an accidental dousing of water did them in.... their faith was restored ~after~ they had won.
They reported lights in the sky. Merrill assumed they were some kind of craft, because even though nothing was seen during the day, a bird hit "something" in mid-air, where the lights had been seen.
The news also reports the creatures appearing on the ground, near where the crop circles were found; but no spaceships were ever seen.
No, Mel's faith was restored when he remembered his dying wife's words ("Tell Merrill, swing away") and realized what she was trying to say. If he hadn't had faith that it meant something, he never would have repeated it to Merrill.
None of the family realized the effect of the water, until some of it spilled on the alien after Merrill whacked him.
OK.... I will keep that in mind when I watch it again, from memory I think I think the 'swing away' thing was more of a human moment than a divine one.
