Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

0ats are good in cookies. I'd probably like oatmeal if I could handle the texture. Never had lamb.
I don't think I'll be moving to Ireland.

Guys, y'all have GOT to check out this site...it is ABSOLUTELY Hilarious!!!
Trust me...its a site that only a disgusted conservative will appreciate...and I know there are several here who will latch onto the evident sarcasm. God knows none of the liberals have.

Oh, no! I'm lucky, I was able to get into all my classes. I'm starting to get the "I can't cut this" jitters, though. Mostly over my lack of programming experience. I know the theory, but I just haven't done it enough. Which is one reason why I'm in grad school anyway.

Big'ol and I would like to visit. He's got roots there. But our dream tour would be to get a little car and drive from town to town. We'd stay in B&B's and go to pubs: so he can sample local brews and I can enjoy the music.

Thanks...
...and that ain't the whole collection. I just asked g'nad to pick two...my car's rather small, and even if I could get a bigger one between now and then, I'd rather not have an infantry rifle team's* worth of bullet-launchers in it unless I was moving house.
*I almost said "squad". That would have been an exaggeration.

Eww. Your tastebuds are shot. You're not related to Morris the Cat, are you? :)
Yes, besides potatoes and beer, we also cook corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew, among other things--the other things being mostly potatoes. . .

Does this sound too harsh?
To Whom It May Concern:
I am again in receipt of one of your threatening letters. And, it will be the last one.
You continue to threaten me over an account which does not exist. Allow me to explain
again.
I am a former member of the Science Fiction Book Club. I fulfilled my obligations and cancelled my membership.
Some time after that, I received a sales call. The sales person assured me that all I was agreeing to do was to once again look at the materials offered by the SFBC. I asked ~several times~ and he assured me ~several times~ that I was under NO OBLIGATION TO BUY ANYTHING
EVER. I made that VERY clear.
A few weeks later I received a book THAT I DID NOT ORDER. Along with the book was an invoice.
I returned the invoice thanking the SFBC for their gift. After all, they had sent something I did not order. Legally, I believe the book was mine.
However, they whined incessantly and I RETURNED THE BOOK.
At that time, I was assured by the Science Fiction Book Club that any account was cancelled and that I had no further obligation.
Then a few months later, I get this ludicrous letter from YOU saying that I owe for my full obligation and that you expect me to send you $80.77 for merchandise I neither ordered nor received.
I dont know if what you are smoking is legal in Ohio, but its not in Virginia.
I dont owe you OR the Science Fiction Book Club a dime. I have explained this to your company on the phone. Frankly, you should reimburse ME for my time and the postage for this letter (and the copies, see below).
DO NOT write me again. DO NOT contact me again.
This matter is CLOSED.
Any further communication from you goes directly to my attorney.
Most sincerely,
"Corin Stormhands"

Them's some NICE trees!! I bought a 9' tree for our Parish this year (they paid for it, I just chose it). We had to talk our Assoc. Pastor into allowing an artificial tree. He really wanted a real one, but we convinced him that it wouldn't be a good thing if it fell over and took out the first three rows of worshipers!! Not to mention the fact that lights on a real tree are a danger when it gets dry.
The bad thing was that the night that the group was decorating the church, I couldn't help because I was in the choir and we had to practice. I got SO frustrated watching a couple trying to get the lights on it!! I had told the girls the best way to do it to make them stay even, but she didn't get the chance to tell them before they started and didn't have the heart to stop them. I'm thinking I'm going to put the lights on well before Christmas so that when they set it up, the lights will be DONE!

Nope, sounds rational to me!
You didn't mention blowing them up or anything if they don't get things straight, so I suppose you're ok.
