I've asked her to verify her address...wait till I get the verification and I'll send it right to you.
I have only read "The Nine Tailors"; this after seeing it in the '70's, a BBC production (and there were more than two Lord Peter mysteries in that production run, though I only saw T9T)...I recently found T9T on DVD in either Schuler's or Barnes & Noble here, and I know they have or have had two of the others...
Was she an Inkling? Or did she have an inkling what an Inkling was?
One of those if I ever get the chance items...I want to hoist a glass of something (probably ginger ale) at their table at the Bird and Baby (formally: The Eagle and Child).
Frankly, I thought "The Nine Tailors" was the most boring of the mysteries. I thought "Clouds of Witnesses" was Lord Peter at his finest.
How were the BBC versions?
Boring?? That may be my favorite of them all! I've reread it more than any of the others, in any case. What a cool twist...
But it DOES all take place in one place, in the winter, and involve a LOT of bell geek talk, I admit.
Well...I only saw the Nine Tailors (sorry if I wasn't clear...the only one I've seen OR read) and I thought it good both printed and filmed. I'm intrigued by the English change-ringing of churchbells. I thought it took at least two entirely unpredictable twists which left his Lordship as baffled as the reader, bringing the reader along on the voyage of discovery...which to me, makes the story superior to the Poirot stories, where the hero always seems to know certain facts not revealed to the reader, or other characters, until the last minute.
Part of the charm of the story, IMO. Especially old Mr Wilderspin (?) who takes the job of ringing very seriously, as though his life was dedicated to that end and he only farmed for enough subsistence to keep going on the bells.

Repeated once.
I wish I knew what that meant.
I like it, too! I get caught up in it every time.
Watching him at council meetings is good fun.... worth the big bag of popcorn!

The one criticism I've heard of teh BBC production is that Lord Peter didn't look like he's described to be in the book. I never saw the TV series, so I'm not sure exactly HOW he was different.
He's not supposed to be a very attractive guy, and maybe that's what they changed? His charm is in his wit and personality, not his appearance.
I remember also being really disappointed when I saw the BBCs Tommy and Tuppence (Agatha Christie detectives) shows. Tommy was supposed to be a short little red-headed guy with kind of a pug nose and likewise not that great looking. Instead, they have him played by a tall well-dressed guy with dark hair. Bah!
no relation :)
My mental image of Lord Peter has always been of a very handsome man...
I bet "The Nine Tailors" would be a much better video than book. It kinda got bogged down in bells... Doomsday Book had as much bell-geekiness as I could take.
I'm starting a movie here... Event Horizon. It's got Sam Neill, who's very nice to look at even if he is a little old, and it looks like a good scary SF movie. I earned it! Spent several hours doing some program-tweaking for my old job, earned a few dollars ;-)
He's not described as such, though. Kinda scrawny with straw colored hair.
And hey, I LIKED the bell-geekiness in Doomsday! Was just gonna mention that.
Event Horizon...haven't seen that, but I've never seen a Sam Neill movie I didn't like. I'll second your comments on him...
The actor doesn't look like Charles Laughton in hunchback makeup. Beyond that, I really couldn't tell you. I defer, in such cases, to the opinions of the ladies...or New Jersey Governors, if you get my drift...
