The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I actually rewrote my post...at first I had written "I just started To Say Nothing of the Dog", but I KNEW that wasn't gonna fly...

And I have no idea what book you could possibly be referring to :)

A small Real tome that Men decried the Don't feminization of Eat the American Quiche Male.

Can you get Diet-Rite soda in Ft. Collins? It is the only soda I know of that is sweetened with Splenda. I found the Cola in 2 liter bottles here at home, but when we were in FL I found 12 pks of White Grape flavor and Tangerine Flavor. They are VEY good. I brought back a 12 pk of each! I'm also going to talk to the folks at Stop & Shop to see if they'll start stocking it!

Probably, but I'm not sure I'd like it. Guess the Cola's worth a shot, I dislike fruit sodas.

I'm just happy cuz they've got Caffeine Free Diet Dr Pepper here, for my evening needs!

Sigh... obviously this "feeding myself" thing needs work. I'm trying a quiche in the low-carb pie crust thing, and I accidentally made too much. So I tried cooking the extra. It ended up like really weird scrambled eggs. Actually, like egg-and-bacon porridge.

We'll see about the quiche. On the plus side, this wine is suprisingly good! I took a guy's advice at the store and tried a different Sauv Blanc from the ones I usually like. First taste I didn't like it, now it's incredible. That's what I love about wine, your first impression is almost always wrong.

I've mostly been buying Australian wines lately. I found one brand that's really good...but I can't remember the name without seeing it.

Brand isn't really the right word, is it?

I haven't read the story, but I've seen the Twilight Zone episode adapted from it. I was also alluding to an 18th-century satire about cannibalism which had a similar punch line that I believe inspired that story.
