Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Thanks! I think I found a similar site last night. I'll go back and check it. I wonder if a soy supplement would work. SSQ HATES the taste of soy protein in stuff. I tried the new low carb Doritos while on vacation, and I didn't like them, even though I don't mind the taste of soy. They're made with soy protein.

I'll check out soy and flaxseed supplements. I could also have him try the Uncle Sam's cereal that's mentioned on SB. It has flaxseed in it, so that could suffice for his morning cereal. He was thrilled to find out that both red and white wines could help with HDL. He likes White Zinfandel, as well as beer (Killian's Red, Foster's) so that's a GOOD thing!

I like the Belgian wheat beers the best. I guess they'd be considered sweet, but I don't like bitter and dark beers.

our first new car in our married life!

You got it when you'd been married a YEAR? It took me 25 yrs. of married life to finally get a NEW car! Great anniversary present, though! I was really excited, but I wasn't able to savor it much because I'd never even SEEN the car before I bought it. I ordered it, arrived at the dealer, saw the car as it arrived there (they'd had to get it from a different dealer), signed the papers, then left for an hour or two while they prepped it. When I returned, I hopped in the car, the salesman hurried out the owner of the place to say Hello, and I rolled off the lot. Came home and packed it with David's stuff for school, and in less than twelve hours we were on the road to Pittsburgh!

I like it a lot, though, and will keep it through Clare and Joseph learning to drive, then I'll get another NEW one! ;o) I'm thinking seriesly about the new gas-electric hybrid cars. Toyota is coming out with a Highlander in 2005, and may do a hybrid Sienna mini-van in a couple of years!

I want a Sienna.

I loved my Corolla (except for the size and power shortage), and I'm thinking I'd really love the Sienna.

On the other hand, I'm hoping Van-sama has a long and breakage-free life.

But I think the Highlander is one of the purtiest things out there!

Actually, a little over 3 months! Steve's car was just shot and he had started back to college, 45 minutes away.

I got a picture up in the attic...I oughta see if I can find and scan it. We were so proud.

I know cold-pressed olive oil is the best oil to use, but what do you use when you need oil for something that is more sweet than savory?

Good mornin! Keep sucking on those zinc lozenges. I've found that even when I have a cold, they tend to lessen the severity of the symptoms. Of course, they didn't help at ALL when I had that sinus infection a few weeks ago, but that's different! ;o)

Just wish they didn't have that nasty after taste / mouth feel! Bleh...

But they really do seem to work.

I'll just be happy when the sore throat is done. I can handle other cold symptoms better than something that makes it tough to eat or drink. I'm kinda attached to eating and drinking...

Sorry you're feeling bad this morning. Take it easy, if possible.

It's overcast here. Maybe that's why I feel like a slug. I haven't even cooked breakfast yet.

Drink lots of water, too. A cold tends to dehydrate you before you even realize it!

Hmm, if my parents sent me money, I wonder if I'd spend it on things I need or things I want? Tough call.

Lucky me, I've got most of the furniture I need. What I don't have, I just realized, is a fall wardrobe. I kinda threw it all away on the grounds of "I hate that" or "that doesn't fit anymore" and now I have a coat, one dress, and four shirts. I'm gonna have to hit the thrift stores in the next month or so... sigh... I'm dreadful about that, I really hate wearing clothes that have been who knows where. Shirts aren't too bad, though.

Overcast here, too.

Kinda weather that makes you wanna curl up on the couch in your PJs with a good book, and not go ANYwhere.

Yeah, mostly it's snobbery, but also like I said last night - everyone I know who drinks beer is a college student. You know that skews my perspective; I only know people who drink beer to get drunk, which is the wrong motive. And wine is, for me, a nice little social sort of beverage. Something you can drink with dinner, with your parents.

I should clean out my wardrobe, too. I have stuff that doesn't fit right anymore, plus things I hate but haven't thrown away 'cause they aren't completely worn out. But if I'm not gonna wear 'em...what's the point of having them take up space, right?

My current dilemna, though, is that most of my pants are just big enough that they don't look right, but I'm not really completely comfortable in the next size down. So I gots ta wait.

Wish we could shop together! My usual way of shopping (if I get stuff that isn't used) is to spend ten minutes on Eddie Bauer's outlet site. It's efficient...and I'm not someone who enjoys trying on outfit after outfit in store after store...but it'd be fun going with someone else.

You know, we could do that if someone decided to move...

Omelet time. Yum. I've got to stay on for a while this time. My jeans are starting to feel slightly tight.
