What an interesting idea, 2J. I'm sure there are some families to whom it would appeal. I don't know if you would run afoul of local Board of Health ordinances, though. It's something you could check out!

But I guess slow and steady is better'n nothing. Yep. I've set some realistic goals for myself. I know where I want to be. But I've set the goals to where I think I can realisically be by this time next year.
I can do it. I just have to stick to it. I liked what the South Beach book said about "cheating" or falling off the diet (for special occasions, etc.). He said just start over again at phase I. I can do that.

Good for you, Corin!! I was down 10 before the vacation, now I gotta get the vacation weight off. I'm just doing Phase 1 again for the next couple of weeks and then go back into Phase 2. This hasn't been a real sacrifice for me. I haven't eaten doughnuts or anything; haven't really craved them. I did have a couple of cookies during vacation, and some tortilla chips, but didn't really go overboard. I can eat the sweet stuff SB recommends. I really like the Ricotta dessert. It was good with fresh blueberries and strawberries in Phase 2!

Does your wife's school have a kindergarten program? No, they don't really do the elementary level. Most of their classes pick up around jr-hi.

That's what I like about it. It's liveable. And the food isn't strange or boring.

Did you know you can buy a
cardboard casket for about $50? I'd like to get one of these for myself and paint daisies all over it. HA HA!! Pushing up daisies, you know?
This one is a bit nicer and runs about $80.

I think your idea is an excellent one! There is a company here in Houston that is called The Pine Box, that does kind of the same thing as far as providing inexpensive caskets urns etc for the deceased. It is still a regulated funeral service, but they seem to be much different than the 'usual'
Ive never had to plan a funeral yet, but I am sure my time is coming.

Heh...we did a "Haunted House" in college one year for the fall festival. We borrowed a shipping coffin from a local funeral home. When we put it under a black light you could see hand prints from the embalming fluids...

Its one of those needs that no one ever really thinks about, and when they have to, are easily taken up by the enormity of it all. I think it helps to know that there is someone who is able to 'do the thinking' while mourners work through their grief.
My aunt died of cancer back in the early 90s. Her last wish for the attendees was to go to Mi Tierra's in San Antonio and enjoy a brunch on her. It was weird, and special, at the same time.
Which reminds me...I need to get stuff done for our own family.
