I think your idea is an excellent one! There is a company here in Houston that is called The Pine Box, that does kind of the same thing as far as providing inexpensive caskets urns etc for the deceased. It is still a regulated funeral service, but they seem to be much different than the 'usual'

Ive never had to plan a funeral yet, but I am sure my time is coming.
