The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'll get my numbers and see what they say...I'm not real excited about starting on medicine.

I wouldn't mind having more tests run, angiograms and such...if my arteries are clear, why would I want to change anything? The cholesterol is obviously not hurting anything if my arteries are clean and running smoothly, right?

I'm most concerned about stroke, because they run in my family.

They are driven by ego and money. They are sheep. And cowardly to boot. They'll masage their data till it is 'acceptable' for publication. Revolutionary thought is not allowed, lest you be tossed to the 'fringe.'

Sounds like politics. I learned that the hard way.

Here's a depressing thought...

Dead, 27 years today.

I don't miss Elvis as much as I miss the Corin of 27 years ago...

I was just about 10 months old.

I'd rather not go back THAT far...

Heh...don't get me wrong. I wouldn't want to re-live the last 27 years...

it's so much more intimidating going 50 posts at a time instead of a hundred, too! Grrr...

Aw, you can do it! I caught up with 500 posts last night!
Tough job, but somebody's gotta do it! ;o)

I wouldn't wanna relive the last five or six years, either...but I wouldn't mind being 21 or 22 agin.

I do sometimes wish I could relive some of those years, though. I would have interacted differently with Mom if I'd known how little time I had.

I have to use a small pillow behind my back if the chair I'm using doesn't have lumbar support. If I don't, I'll end up with a bent sideways walk. It's not muscular, it's skeletal.

I received an e-mail from Lt Paul this morning. Seems he's doing more actual engineering for the Army than he did for TXDot.

Marhaba(howdy ya'll),

"YOU GUYS ROCK" is one of the best things I have read in a while.

We stay busy here with design work and construction contracting. The money for the fiscal year running out will cause us to miss some deadlines. The US Army is probably the biggest employer here. Most construction and renovation on the old Republican Guard base I am at is done by Iraqi contractors. I do more design work here than my civilian job. I have ended up doing generator sizes, electrical layouts, and structural stuff. I actually wish I had brought some of my old textbooks here. There is one Iraqi engineer that has helped me out on some stuff. He is a member of the Armenian Orthodox church here. He did not get hit in the the recent church attacks. ;

I saw some posters of that punk Sadr on the way down to Camp Victory on a convoy today. We printed some maps for some soldiers going to deal with him this past week. I have been told by an Iraqi that Sadr was a partying womanizer before we got here. Remember that Saddam had Sadr's father killed.

The time here goes quick. We might get home early which would be next spring. I am sure that Bryan's quest to escape from Ablilene and stories of financial woe will will be the same upon my return

Masalama,

Paul

Macross 7 is pretty good. It makes a lot more sense if you have seen at least the original macross or the DYRL movie. Of all the Macrosses I like 7 the least but that is mainly because the rest are so good. Macross: Do You Remember Love is definitely on my top 3 favorite anime movies list (which one is number 1 depends on the day of the week). If you have seen the first season of robotech then Macross 7 might make some sense but it is best if you have seen the real Macross TV series. The DYRL movie is around on BT if you look for it. That is a 'legit' fansub since no one has the US rights to it.

I can't wait till they finish the Macross conversion to the game Homeworld 2.

SSQ has hereditary high cholesterol. His Mama was no bigger than a minute and had cholesterol in the 300s! He's not overweight at all, and his is in the high 200s! The doc put him on meds for it. It's odd, cause here I am, almost 100 pounds overweight, and have NEVER had high cholesterol or blood pressure! My triglycerides were high a year ago, but when I went for my physical and had blood work done early this year (after having done a low-carb thing for several months) even that number was in a good range!
