Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
I swear doll.... you were finding kittens everywhere. "Oh - look! another kitten!"
Guess not! I think six months would be the longest I could wait, personally, and preferably it'd be juuust long enough to plan things and no more. But they didn't want to have it in the winter because of travel concerns, and wanted more planning time than just fall...I guess. I don't completely understand their reasoning!
And yeah, he's still in San Fran., and she's in Tacoma. They're gonna spend a fortune on phone calls, I imagine! And Ben is planning on flying up once in awhile, too. That's gonna add up fast!
Yeah, 22 might be getting a bit hard to pull off. Personally I would be happy with 4-8. Over 10 and how would I remember all their names? That and I would have to get another job to pay for Christmas in a house like that. hehe
I can't imagine not doing it by Christmas. They'll want to get together anyhow! And to be apart the whole time! Where will they live after the wedding?
Oh well.... ecurbh and I waited longer than we needed to actually marry, but for us it was either elope or wait till his family was out of school for summer. And they wanted us to wait! I guess once we wereliving in sin anyway, what's a couple more months.
LOL! I meant getting married by 22 years old! Oh gosh, I'm cracking up, here!
My best friend is the youngest of 15. They are THE most incredible family I know, too...all very conservative Catholics, and a lot of them movers and shakers in various fields. And I can remember all their names...but you can forget it when it comes to the spouses and the grandkids (something like 70 at last count...most of them have at least five).
We know a couple other families with 10-12. I come from a family with 8, which seems almost dinky by comparison. ;-) It's a lot of fun getting together...can't wait until we all start having kids and have a really full house when we get together.
I think that is still being decided, but for the next few years I think they'll be in San Francisco. Neither of them like it there, so that should be interesting...
Ben's plan is to save up some cash for a house (he's making really good money at the moment), take out another business loan, and try again to start a business back here, probably in Littleton, NH. He's the one that had the sandwich shop, remember awhile back? He's still hoping to succeed in something like that.
I wouldn't wanna be his wife...he's the kind of guy who will always be taking risks and trying new things, some of which may well work, but some of which will end horribly. Some would call that exciting, but I guess I'm a bit too hobbitty to want that kinda life...
As fer those who said we wimped out...
'Nuther blustery day here. Looks like it might burn off so we can get some sun time this afternoon.
Hair - some dream. I thought we wuz buildin' the HH compound at Stinky's place, but we could live in the witches circle. Specially if we need to relocate fer them 6 figger jobs Ramius is gettin' us.
g'nad/all - Speakin' of Stinky's place. The Stormhands family needs to nail down some dates for Shoot Moot. I know it seems like we got time, but next year is tricksey for us with a bunch o' stuff goin' on (purty much like always). So if'n we could pick dates, that'd be good.
msdrby/PE - Hope elf-boy gets tuh feelin' better.
Bear - I've read the first of Zelazny's Amber Chronicles. I have the set, just need to get down to readin' 'em.
This bein' our last day here, we need to start thinkin' about packin' up. Still "owe" the boys go-carts and Luke's been beggin' to go to the 'musement park. Just a couple of carnival type rides. But if'n it ain't rainin' tonite, we'll take him there.
It's been a good week. I'm almost ready to go home.
We should start working out the dates soon! Just to be sure everyone can be there.
I found it highly amusing when my brother was here with his fiance, and she kept referring to families with "only 6 kids" or something. It was kinda refreshing in a way.
Are all your siblings married? Ben is the first for us...which is why getting used to the idea is a little tough for me, especially being the oldest. ;-)
Could we maybe do a poll like last time?
Just make sure g'nad knows we're comin'...I know it's being dubbed Shoot Moot, but I'd prefer it if the mooters themselves stayed intact...
Absolutely! I'm not gonna be the one to show up unannounced, that's fer sure!
Ruthy, I am not going to kill those kittens!
Mornin' Corin! So will you be tryin' the pier today or is it still a bit drippy out?
No, just the older two. But they have been married a while now... I forget. I am #3 and both of them were married for years by the time they were my age.
No way!! I wouldn't either.
I'd rather have the small problems than kill kittens, even if they're only dream kittens. ;-)
I wonder if there is an explanation for remote-control lawnmowers. *grin*
The remote control lawn-mower is not that far fetched, considering the gadgetry the boys in my family are attracted to. They have a robotic vacuum cleaner and an electric cheese slicer at the beach house, forcryinoutloud.
Not sure what we'll do today. It's not currently raining, but it is overcast. Only Luke and I are up at the moment.
Jr. wanted to watch all three movies last night. So we started at 10:45. I made it to Lothlorien and gave up. But Mrs. told me they stayed up until about 5:30 and apparently got through The Two Towers.
So, it looks to be a casual day. I'll call your house if we decide we can make it to the pier and either talk to your hubbit or leave a message.
We could also think about tomorrow morning. But it would be early for you on a Saturday.
