The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I like dinosaurs. I don't like giant monkeys. I'm not going to see "Anaconda 2", either, because I don't like snakes.

Almost time to leave for work here... wish the fansub would come out before I leave so I could have it downloading... dinner is in the crockpot, no need to worry when I get back.

Good idea: "Anaconda" Moot! :)

What fansub are you waiting for?--new FMA?

Good luck on the first day on the job!

SSQ signed us up with PeoplePC for our vacation internet. They had some sort of free offer type thing going on.

It seems as though a bood bidness opportunity would be to offer a 'vacation' internet service. Sell one or two weeks worth of internet service without any other strings attached. Offer toll free numbers folks could use or local numbers for dial up service. So many folks are taking laptops on vacation these days, it seems like a good idea.

Hey, Ramius, there's your company that you can hire us and pay each of us six figure salaries!

I dunno if they're still available, but used to be they'd sell things like phone cards that would give you a certain amount of time on-line. They used to sell them at the BX...maybe at Wal-Mart, too? Sounds like a good idea to me.

See, I sorta thought of that too. I think there used to be a similar service on the OBX. I was surprised that I couldn't even find a wireless location. There's not a single Starbucks on the island.

I haven't seen any here in Perdido yet. Might be some over in Pensacola, but I haven't gone looking.

I even mentioned the vacation internet service to a guy from Verison last year, he said it sounded like a good idea, but I've never seen anything like that offered.

We just saw a Navy rescue helicopter about 1/4 mile offshore. Don't know if it was looking for a lost swimmer or checking for sharks. It circled in one spot for a few minutes, then moved a little further offshore and hovered there for a while. Then it just flew off.

And who told David he wouldn't have to cope with freezing temperatures? There's usually at least one ice storm a year here ...

Yeah, but the freezing cold is not continuous from Nov. til March!

Hey Suzi, you're not too far from the Pensacola Naval Air Station are you?

When we were in Pensacola for my graduation last month we visited the Air museum on the base. It was incredible. While we were there they told us that you can watch the Blue Angels practice there for free. They have some bleachers set up and everything.

They told us it was going to be the Tuesday and Wednesday after we had gone, but it may be worth a call to see if they'll be practicing while you are there.

If not, the museum itself is worth a trip. We counted it as a school field trip.

How sweet!!

I met Steve earlier today...he wanted to work on paying our bills...I can't do it...I just can't handle that. So I met with him and took him all the bills and such. It just made my whole day even, just to sit in the car with him for a few minutes.

It's just nice.

WOW! That's gonna look great, Hair!!

I just loved your little place. Kinda reminds me of mine and Steve's little house in Austin when we first got married...it was little, but just right and had a vacant lot that we were allowed to garden in!
