Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Yay! You should enjoy it, it's very light-hearted.
JenB: Who was Fay Wray?
Oh, they make it really difficult for you to claim residency... but my license, registration, voter registration, and twelve-month apartment contract should probably do it. Sigh. What a pain. But the department said, do this, so I did it. That way if something goes wrong I can blame them and maybe still get my tuition covered.
Was she in King Kong?
What was she in? I might have seen her without knowin'...
Yes, she was in the original King Kong in 1933. She was 96 (when she died, not when she was in the movie).
That was mostly a lucky guess. Never seen King Kong, but I thought I remembered her name.
LOL!
Well, I didn't see it in the theaters...
But I'm sure you bought it on dvd at Wal-mart as soon as it came out, right? ;-)
Fay Wray just died? I saw an interview with her a few years ago and she still had a lot of vitality. You could still see how pretty she used to be.
And Fedora will not be winning the "Corin Stormhands Diplomacy Award" if he talks like that too much...
"What was she in? I might have seen her without knowin'..."
You may have also heard her voice. Her scream from "Kong" became so famous that they recorded it and reused it for other movie screams for years :)
"Well, I didn't see it in the theaters..."
C'mon, you know you were first in line in 1933 :)
I *do* remember seeing the remake in the theater when I was a kid. It's eerie seeing it now because of the scenes with the World Trade Center.
And here I had my award acceptance speech prepared and everything!
"Never seen King Kong"
You are going to see it before you see Peter Jackson's remake, right?
What? That's a non-sequiter. I was pointing out that your "compliments" of Fay Wray would not be considered very flattering (hint: no woman ever wants to hear she "used to be beautiful")
I'm not going to see PJ's version, either. Giant monkey movies? No. Thanks anyway. Also count me out of "Godzilla"
I wasn't saying she wasn't still pretty, just that you could still see she how pretty she was when she was younger :)
Well, I guess I'd better just resign myself to trying for next year's diplomacy nomination. . .
"I'm not going to see PJ's version, either."
Not even if he includes the Scouring of the Shire scenes in it? :)
The original "King Kong" is as much a "Jurassic Park" type of movie as it is a giant monkey movie. The scenes on the prehistoric island are great.
