~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XIV~
July 23, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of the Lair

Posted on 07/23/2004 4:39:59 PM PDT by Soaring Feather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

So far we've still been posting close to midnight anyway, but we think the earlier posting is going work for us. I'm getting too old to make it through the day on 4 or 5 hours sleep.

Someone who puts me first
And gives me what I need
Not just takes and takes
And leaves my heart to bleed.

On my gosh, this stanza cuts to the bone.

MOONLIGHT SERENADE
By: Glenn Miller

I stand at your gate and the song that I sing is of moonlight.
I stand and I wait for the touch of your hand in the June night.
The roses are sighing a Moonlight Serenade.

The stars are aglow and tonight how their light sets me dreaming.
My love, do you know that your eyes are like stars brightly beaming?
I bring you and sing you a Moonlight Serenade.

Let us stray till break of day
in love's valley of dreams.
Just you and I, a summer sky,
a heavenly breeze kissing the trees.

So don't let me wait, come to me tenderly in the June night.
I stand at your gate and I sing you a song in the moonlight,
a love song, my darling, a Moonlight Serenade.

Thanks. My mom didn't know there were any lyrics
till the day before yesterday when I found Ray
Eberle singing to the tune.

Old Sarge and I are dancing in the Canteen. Here is the last poem we wrote......
Don't know if you lurk in the Canteen.

I shall bring you
music in the silence,
to dance away the dark,
And I shall bring you colors,
to fill the barrens stark,
I shall bring you rhythm,
and melodies, and harmony
and form a safe and comfort place,
for your heart, an armory.

Old Sarge

I shall dance to your music
revel in your color
bloom in your garden
drink in your dawn
wear your cloak of honor
hold dear to my heart
the treasure of your gift of love
wear the tiara of stars
the garments spun from gold
and behold the gem of your heart
the treasure of your soul
the moon of our heavens
and walk the pathway to the stars with you

No, I don't go to the Canteen. I stick to the places
I can actually find, places I've been invited to.

There is another song I really like & I had no idea
who it was by. I found out last night it's a Glenn Miller.
I can't find it anywhere to listen to though. It's called
"I Know Why (And So Do You)".
