July 21, 2004 -- SOME classical music lovers became so annoyed with the yammering of a group sitting next to them during a free concert in Central Park Monday night, they stole a woman's sandal. "We got to the Great Lawn at 5:30 and scored a nice spot on the ballfield. It was a perfect evening of wine and good weather. However, at 8 p.m., this posse of stupid people showed up," one perpetrator e-mailed Gawker.com, along with a picture of the purloined pump. "The 12 of them proceeded to make the [classical concert] the background music for their chatter about jobs in publishing and 'media buys' and the Hamptons. This went on for two-plus hours . . . So when the Grucci fireworks were over, we quietly rolled up our blanket, careful to snag a lone shoe. At least one b- - - - would hobble out of the park [that] night."

The four-term Massachusetts senator avoided heaping all the blame on President Bush (news - web sites). Still, he said it was unfortunate that the White House delayed the commission's work and improvements to the nation's security.
This administration had an ongoing war between the State Department, the Defense Department, the White House — people have been at odds," Kerry told reporters after a speech to the Urban League. "Everybody knows it. They'll deny it. But everybody does know it. And the fact is that it has struggled — it has created a struggle that has delayed our ability to move forward."
At least Edwards is smart enough to try and cover his rear:
"We should not focus on blame," Edwards said during a brief news conference in Hartford, Conn. "Thousands of Americans died on Sept. 11. And it's very important for those of us in positions of responsibility to pay tribute to them and take action."

Cronkite is a big buddy of Buckley's. It must be the sailing link. In fact, Cronkite writes the opening to Buckley's just released autobiography. I got it yesterday -- it is really good. (I haven't read Cronkite's intro, though.)
Looking at that "frame grab" of Kerry it occurs to me that if he grew a beard he'd look like Lincoln, from the side. Of course, that's as close to Lincoln as he'd ever get.
Now, I can't imagine that he was stuffing his socks and pants with the monitor in the room, so I'm left to wonder how the monitors saw this and am inclined to hope that the sessions were videotaped -- IOW's I hope they monitored via tv monitors. hehehe

TerAYzah is "powerful" only because of her dead husband's money, which she can pour into various looney causes. Eliz. Edwards is not, nor will she ever be, powerful. Considering how little time either of them spends in Washington, the program is misnamed.
