The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That picture don't do it justice. The blocks light up. It's actually vey cool. Not at all practical. But vey cool.

I haven't gotten past the first opening, which I like a lot. It's very catchy.

I don't like the ending tune as much, but it's growing on me.

"BTW, the fourth Fullmetal Alchemist opening, "Riraito (Rewrite)" is available here. It's weird, but it grew on me."

Thanks--I'll check it out after I finish the episode of SP I'm on.

Darksheare, is "Yuri" one of your nicknames? :)

Not unless he's a scantily-clad chick, it's not.

Rules of "Van-sama!" are simple. You see a van, you yell "Van-sama!" and point. Ok, ok, so we have additional point-and-yell at cars... "Honda-san!" from Fruits Basket, "Pacifica-hime!" for SP, and "Mustang-choosan" (phonetical spelling of a word I don't know yet meaning "colonel") from FMA.

There is only ONE true Van-sama.

I really like the first close. The words are haunting. The second and third closing are boring (second has some redeeming artwork, though) and I haven't decided about the fourth close yet.

So far, the third opening is the easiest to sing along with, but all the openings have been good!

Yes, which is why we must point out and scorn the imitations. ;-p

Anything to make a long trip with loads of bothers less annoying.

My Mom is still trying to convince my Dad of that. . .

Sounds like a better idea than punch-bug.

That was a daaaaangerous game to play in Germany, let me tell ya. And that was in the days BEFORE there were new Beetles around.

People in my family are too fond of hitting each other anyway to play that game. And we girls like trying to imitate, say, Merle's voice for the Van-sama one.

"Not unless he's a scantily-clad chick, it's not."

Darksheare, is there something you haven't been telling us? :) Or perhaps he's been experimenting with the Lurker 2005's Chameleon disguise function. . .

"Mustang-choosan"--ROFL! Sounds more fun than the Punchbuggy car game :) What about Suzukis? Hmmm--can you get points for calling American cars "Gaijin-kuruma!"? :)

The "Holy Roman Empire" was neither "Holy" nor "Roman."

Discuss.

Rosie's is the true Van-sama.

You're missing the main idea of the game... one only yells things that match anime names. Calling American cars "gaijin" wouldn't fit with that. I haven't seen an anime with a character called "Suzuki", or "Toyota", so those aren't part of the game. Yet.
