Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Try impatiens if it's shady.... not the waxy kind with shiny leaves but the regular kind. They'll flower in full shade and wilt in too much sun. I like them because you don't have to deadhead them. Next year, I may plant more because I have more shady spots than sunny ones.

LOL... your deer apparently just like to eat all your stuff.
I don't have deer. I wish I did, I love to catch sight of them, but they won't risk the dog.

I don't even have deer raiding that apple tree in the back forty. I wish I did! Eat them up so I don't have to worry bout the horses getting too many!

WE used to have an apple tree that put out so many apples that even the squirrels couldn't eat them all. That was before the deer showed up.

Goo, very good. Run up the post number.

I have a whole herd of deer. There are three that come by most often. They were pretty skittish at first but they've gotten used to me enough that I can sometimes go outside while they're there and they won't run unless I get too close or make a sudden loud noise. At first there was a minor problem with them eating some of the trees and garden vegetables but a little fencing took care of that pretty much.

Deer = large, pretty squirrels. We can't even have a garden here, the deer eat it all.

I've got impatiens on the other side. That's what I plan to do next year. Not gonna bother with the petunias or begonias (that Nana kept pushing me to buy). Just impatients. Red and white to fill up the flower beds where the perennials don't come in.
