I think they had him reviewing books to help determine which would be worth publishing.
He works for Ignatius Press now, though. Does a bunch of different things. Also free lances. He's had a few articles published, mostly in Catholic magazines and in "Gilbert!" magazine.
Wow, that's really neat! That's actually one thing I'm interested in getting into so I'm kinda curious how he broke into that. I've started writing a few things on apologetics and spirituality I'd like to publish eventually. Unfortunately I don't know the magazine/book markets too well so I'm not sure which publishers my work is best suited to. I should look up "Gilbert".
This is one story that I like the anime version a whole lot better. The manga isn't bad, though, and when the anime shows up on tv in October, you'll know who these weirdoes are!
Ought to get to bed soon...
"Gilbert"? Is there a "Sullivan" magazine too?
If you watch the bar shootout in "Raiders", you'll see Indy's Smith N-frame morph back and forth into a M1911 and Browning Hi-Power.
I think the balloons are different because that accomodates the various characters better.
Oh, yeah, and if you read too much manga, your eyes go funny and you'll start reading every comic right-to-left.

LOL! Now I have to watch it again just to see that (I don't need much excuse to watch "Raiders" again :) Are the weapons in that movie period-authentic? I like that one scene in the third movie where he draws a Nazi pistol and is surprised when it fires cleanly through three guys in a row. I think that was a Luger?--my Dad has a gun that looks kinda like that.
The two versions are similar-but-different; the same incidents will occur, but at different times or in different manner. And the storyline diverges drastically around episode 20/book... 4, I guess.
You'd probably enjoy it better dubbed, though, the subtitles on this one are really quite tricky. And a lot more is conveyed through voice, than just words...

Interesting concept. I also thought maybe the shape was similar to how signs are made in the Orient. I think I've seen signs that have a similar shape.

What's confusing about that for me is I'm also trying to learn Hebrew and that also reads right to left, except there you start at the last page and read backwards, so I'm finding myself feeling like I should be starting on the last page of the manga instead of Page 1 :)
Well, you would start at the last page if it were in book form, but being individual pages, I guess it's easier to set up with the first page being 1.
I'm going to bed now. See everyone tomorrow.

Hmmm. . .Well, US cartoon adaptations of comics tend to do that, too, so I guess I should be able to follow that, I'll just have to preview an episode guide first or something like that.

I'm kinda getting used to the subtitles. I'm working with my Japanese tutorial to try to pick up some basic vocabulary to make it easier. I kinda picked up the words for "brother" and "sister" tonight though I can't quite make out how certain sounds are pronounced. The hard part for me I'm finding is how certain sounds are pronounced differently and also in a different rhythm than I would expect from looking at the subtitles. That's one reason SP is helpful, because of that opening song which shows the Japanese along with the English--that's helping me pick up the cadence on certain words/suffixes I was having trouble with before. And I did at least recognize when someone said "Ohio goziamasu" :)
Have a good night!
Check out this one!
<snicker>
Awww, that *is* cute! :)
It burns! It freezes! :)
Precious!
