Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

The first year or so I was depressed. But...on the other hand it means things like hiking and mountain biking are kinda more comfortable. No glare. And it didn't really rain excessively...it was just overcast a lot.
But the temperatures were the best part. I could definitely have lived more happily without grey weather all the time.

I the quiz thing gave me Ocala FL then some places along the Gulf coast from Ft Myers to Galveston. The only place in NC that I got was Hickory and Tulsa was the closest to the Midwest.
Think I'm seriesly in the wrong place?

"Fedora; they seem to know season is over."
Either that or they know I'm still learning to shoot straight :)

Oh, meant to say, if you want to know anything about Houghton/Hancock, just let me know. I lived there off and on for 7 years.

You know, before you posted this, I was just wondering if the weather has anything to do with the seemingly high incidence of depression in German culture.

He's a stubborn one, ain't he? His total lack of self-awareness probably has something to do with that--he honestly thinks it's FR's fault that when he comes on and insults everybody he gets flamed. My guess is he's a masochist and likes the negative attention.

I kinda imagine it's like Northeastern Vermont only more so...which is a bit scary in some ways. Lot of hunting and snowmobiling and fishing and such?

There's a glimmer of hope in that he's stuck around this long. But if he keeps up the sniveling.... his account may not be long for the world.

I kinda imagine it's like Northeastern Vermont only more soPretty much! Fewer mountains, more lakes... Houghton and Hancock are on opposite sides of the Portage Ship Canal, and are joined by the Portage Lift Bridge.
Houghton is home to Michigan Technological University, where I got my engineering degree.

He seems to swing back and forth between snivelling and better moments when someone makes him laugh and he has second thoughts about what he's doing. I suspect the snivelling will win out in the end, though--kind of Smeagol/Gollum-ish. . .

I've never tried to make pickles of any kind. I finally found a dill pickle up here that I like though. It seemed for a while that the only dills were kosher dills and I can't stand the taste of them! I found 'Zesty Dills' by Vlasic and they are vey tasty!
