I kinda imagine it's like Northeastern Vermont only more so...which is a bit scary in some ways. Lot of hunting and snowmobiling and fishing and such?
Pretty much! Fewer mountains, more lakes... Houghton and Hancock are on opposite sides of the Portage Ship Canal, and are joined by the Portage Lift Bridge.
Houghton is home to Michigan Technological University, where I got my engineering degree.
