The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'll try to ~not~ be prepared for the move. :-)

Be sure to post baby horse pics here too, Hair. Don't save 'em all for the Saddle Club!

"We're hoping to get some good downpours through here soon to help our firefighters get the job done. *fingers crossed*"

Will pray on that, then.

So what else you been up to?

Nothing much...my life is painfully boring. ;-)

Went to church this morning and my pastor actually preached on current events - for once. I was complaining (sort of) about this a few weeks ago, so God musta heard me and whispered in my pastor's ear. LOL!!

Anyway, Jack (my pastor) talked about the Defense of Marriage Act and how we must realize that this is an attack on the very foundation of civilization. And reminded us that if we do not speak out to our senators, then who will?

After the service, he passed out flyers with our senators' numbers on them and said we should call them all week letting them know that we beleive marriage is a union between a man and a woman...period.

I was quite impressed!!

Cool. I remember once at my old church they explained they were cautious when preaching on politically-related stuff because of the legal/tax issues involved, but they were still legally allowed to pass out flyers with representatives' contact information like that.

Oh okay, if the marigolds reseed themselves that'll be fine.

I'm workin' on figgerin' out how to build myself a compost heap, what'll work best, etc. Gotta have it together by leaf season...

If a baby "went off," the parent was expected to go to a waiting room and calm 'em down.

Jack was very good about expressing that same-sex marriage is not a political issue, as some folks would say it is.

It's more of an issue relating to the destruction of God's description of marriage, which is clearly outlined in the Bible. Just as homosexuality is defined as an abomination.

We are not being "intolerant", we are being obedient. As Christians, God's Word is the solid TRUTH, whether you like it or not. And if you don't like it, and you hate us for it, then who is really being intolerant? ;-)

Them your maters? I like the color of those marigolds; a complementary planting, perhaps?

I got the marigold seeds for free at the home show. I started the in pots and then set them out. I've been pleased with how they've grown.

My daylilies aren't blooming like I'd hoped. Gotta figure out what to feed them.

Yeah, if I remember right they said we can legally preach on the moral side of it as long as it doesn't involve actually campaigning for a particular candidate, or something to that effect. And if it just happens that what's said logically implies voting for a particular candidate, that's okay as long as it's not said explicitly :)

Yep, leave the door open and lights burning in the community room and there's no telling who will wander in.

My friend Tiffney has a new foal... Horse was given to her only two years old and pregnant. Apparently these folks had a whole bunch of babies running together that were no longer babies ;~\. They had neglected to do anything about it, and have had hard times, so they needed to get rid of a bunch of pregnant horses at the last minute. She took one, and a friend of hers two others. So far, so good, but they were really too young to be mommas.

Well, went over to see them tonight. Baby is healthy and bright.... momma is fine, if a little underweight and underdeveloped... you can see in the shot next to ecurbh how small she is (ecurbh isn't that tall, 5'10ish), she is just a baby herself, barely two, but an easy going mare and a good momma.

My most immediate concern was Tiffney's loose barbed wire fencing, and the odd trailers and piles of junk she has out in the area where the baby is. ~Shudder~ I hope that baby doesn't get caught up in it. She says she wants to fix it up, but she won't in time. The baby will either get into it in the next week, or she'll luck out.

Swinging your arms out wide in church sounds like a good way to knock out your neighbor...

It's called being "slain in the Spirit"...

But the ushers have to remember to run over and throw their jacket over a ladies legs when she falls out. It's the proper thing so you don't see the unmentionables.

It's particularly important for Gondorian women...

Well, here's how we do it - may not work for you but LSA uses Miracle gro occasionally. Usually takes a couple years to get a more than a handful of blooms, splitting when they get too crowded does help in getting them to bloom. Pinching off the blooms after the flower starts to shrivel is a good idea, also picking off any of the seed pods. Pulling off the leaves when they turn brown, yep we're doing that already. Hope this helps.
