Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Babies were always in the sanctuary when I went to church. If a baby "went off," the parent was expected to go to a waiting room and calm 'em down. There was a speaker in the room, so that they'd know what was happening; but those babies were expected to be in the sanctuary as much as possible. When I was a kid, we all went to church. I went to Sunday School once I could sit still for short periods of time and color --- about 3, I guess --- and my parents went to adult Sunday School. At the Methodist church I attended then, every class started at 9:30, every age group had a separate room, and everybody worked on the same Sunday School lesson, modified to suit the age of the students. Then, at 10:30, we all met back up in the overflow room just off the sanctuary and every group got to demonstrate something from the lesson for the preacher. That took us up to 10 minutes till 11, just enough time for the bathroom before church started.
That's pretty much more or less how most churches I've attended have done it, too. When I was little our sanctuary was called the "crying room". My parents took us there until we were old enough to behave (arguably!) in regular service. As we got older we'd attend regular service and have Sunday school before service.

Whoa that is cool! Just think, you could have electricity in a park that doesn't have hook ups! Just carry your solar powered tent and some special batteries along!

Them your maters? I like the color of those marigolds; a complementary planting, perhaps? I think marigolds are pretty, I just can't stand the smell of them. Oddly, lilies affect me the same way. I love the sight of them, just can't stand the smell.
Oh, that lily you posted the picture of a few weeks ago is a 'Stargazer'. I saw the box for one at Home Depot about a week after you'd posted the pic.

Thanks Suzi.
Went to my little brother's "adaptive" baseball game - the rules changed to fit kids with various disabilities. Kind of fun, but also I like baseball a lot and it started getting on my nerves that no-one went after the ball.

About 10 yrs. ago, our Parish started having the 'Family Mass' at 9am. Just before the time of the Liturgy of the Word, when Scripture is read, all the kids are invited to go downstairs to the Parish Hall, where they are read the same scripture, though in more kids' style, then they get a lesson on it, instead of the sermon that the folks upstairs are getting. It's designed to engage the kids more so they're not fidgeting instead of listening. They come back upstairs just after the Sermon, so they're there for the Consecration and the rest of Mass.
Our kids never liked it much, they preferred to stay upstairs with us. That was fine, they were well behaved. The teens don't usually sit as a group apart from their families during Mass. That's asking for WAY too much trouble! LOL!
