Special Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
That's great that you'll have the girls with you. There'll be time later for little Buck!!
Good day! First mention was here, but you didn't say much just then... second mention was here, and the conversation continued with several posts after that.
Race is fixin' to start!
Good thanks. I'm avoiding the work I need to be doing. B-i-l was supposed to come and get this monstrosity of a "desk" that Papa built for wife's sister. It's in the way. But he hasn't called, so I'm guessing we'll go another week without getting it out of here. I need to go work on Jr's room and bathe the dog. Bought some new "shed stopping" shampoo.
Church was good. Slovakia team shared and did the music. No hymnals required today. ;-)
But I'm with you on singing more of the great hymns. I wish churches could figure out a way to blend the two. It can be done, but it's easier not to. We usually do at least one traditional hymn, but not always. And the words are on the screens.
I come from traditions though where people knew how to sing the parts on hymns. Most congregations, particularly the larger evangelical congregations have lost that. And I think that's sad.
There is some great theology in those hymns though that we should not lose site of. Specially in the Charles Wesley ones. ;-)
We love singing the Wesley hymns. He did a fine job putting truth to music.
I like popular, contemporary Christian music OK. Some of it's very good and it's all I listen to in the car. But to me, it doesn't compare. Some of those old hymns are like sermons you sing.
Plus it really freaks people out to walk through parking lots singing "How Firm a Foundation", I've found.
Probably freaks 'em out more with "A Mighty Fortress."
Yes, because that gets secularists and Catholics, both.
It's interesting how many hymns Protestants and Catholics could both sing, though, lots of our hymns seem to be written in the 7th century.
Anyway, just submitted a request to re-join.
I don't know how that happened, but we will certainly let you back in!
That's not what you said the other night in the chat room...
Later folks. My whole afternoon is fubar'd cause my b-i-l can't commit to when he's coming over. Messes up a whole week of moving crap from one room to the next.
But, I ain't helpin' the situation by sittin' here.
We got a cookout to go to tonite. I'll check in later.
Are those your 'maters? WOW! We barely have little nubbins that will become tomatoes and lots of blooms.
We are going to a barbecue at Tiffney's tonight. Have a good day, talk to you later!
Corin.... Don't be causin' trouble!
Yep, I actually picked four this mornin' afore church.
Well, I'll go take a picture of ours.... I think we are a month behind ya.
If'n you ain't havin' barbecue you ain't goin' to a barbecue, yer goin' to a cookout...
Just doin' muh job.
