Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Every winter, my daddy would make a mayonnaise jar of "cough medicine." We'd drive around looking for a pharmacy old-fashioned enough to carry rock candy, which he would put in the jar first. Then he would pour bourbon over it, almost filling the jar, and then he would top it off with lemon and orange slices, and sometimes maraschino cherries. mmmmmmm...recipe...that's what I'm needin'....

Baby birdies getting fed is one of the cutest things to watch. I'm glad you got it on tape for Autumn. Now she'll have to learn to listen for the familiar chirping and watch them herself!

In reach of the stove at all times. :-)I'm going to have to get used to a new arrangement when we build the new kitchen. My cooktop is going to be in an island, so I won't have any upper cabinets to the right of it like I have now with my stove. I'm going to have to design some drawers to hold the spices, etc. It will take some getting used to! Old habits is hard to break!

If that was for real, I am not sure anyone is gonna be buying that "practice" sword anytime soon.

I have lived in this house a year and I am *still* reaching into the wrong drawers for silverware and cups.

You should just re-arrange the drawers...

Watched a movie with Mom and Dad instead. "The Butterfly Effect", which was so much better than I'd thought when it was in theaters. The trailer was attached to one of the LotR films and I saw it a million times and thought the film looked dumb. But it was actually a thoughtful piece of science fiction. I thought the preview looked intriguing, though it could be fairly cheesy. So it's good? It's out on video, no?

My mom used to dip a finger in some wine or whiskey and rub it on our gums to supposedly ease teething. And it do anything to me... uh... ok... nevermind. :-)Heh...I'm the oldest in my family and was one of the worst teethers. Mom had heard about using whiskey, and finally decided to try it...I think she was kinda desperate.
So...she walks nervously into a liquor store (NOT her usual habitat), carrying me. The lady at the checkout kinda eyed her funny...woman with very fussy baby buying bottle of booze. Being nervous, Mom blurted out "Oh, it's not for me - it's for the baby!"
But I turned out OK. I think. Maybe.
