The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning one and all!!

Am I the first one awake?

This really turned out to be a special morning for us. Last week, we discovered a male & female Oriole had built a nest in our magnolia tree in the side yard. We've been "watching" them for the past week, as they've been acting a bit odd.

This morning, I woke up to a wierd sound coming from the nest that I hadn't heard in a very long time. I grabbed the binolculars, and sure enough, there are three little new-born Oriole heads peeking up from the nest. I woke up Autumn to show her, and she was estatic. She asked me to tape it..."Get it on tape, Daddy...get the taper!", so I taped them at 'feeding time' for a few minutes.

We then ate some Count Chocula and watched the tape about a dozen times in a row. lol

It's the little things like that which make it all worthwhile, you know?

*yawn* Mornin' Seamus.

Some of us did a chat view last night, so it was almost 1:00 EST when I got in bed.

Off to run some errands.

Wonderful story about the Orioles.

Well, Ruthy and I were the only ones on the EAST coast. It was at least an hour earlier for everyone else...

See you later.

Morning All; popped in to say Hey, sipping a second cup and running a self-diagnostic-most systems running within normal parameters. Need another cup before heading in to the office.

Glad to hear the Chat-View came to pass. Been enjoying the pings and mini dramas. But have been scarcer than normal-what ever that is.

Weather unseasonably pleasant so far but I think it will change by Thursday. Heading out then to the Bow-Bee aka MoJAM VI at Marshall MO. 3 Days of Bow Building, Visiting, Shooting and telling tall tales.

SYL

Very cool about the Orioles!

Yes, we did have the chat view last night.... and that had us up pretty late, but I am so keyed up about taking ecurbh on this trail ride today that I couldn't sleep a wink!

I tossed and woke up every couple hours till I could finally get up now!

The Oriole story is one that will be remembered by Autumn too! My kids remember things like that. I can't remember half of 'em. But, they remind me. It is really cool now to have them say, "mom - do you remember when we..."
