Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It makes a LOT of difference to user health! Especialy LCD screens ... when they're blurry, it can give you eyestrain!

I have it all ready to push play in the DVD player even NOW!!! :-)
It's under 2 hours! You'd be here LONG before 8! :-)

Right.... so in what scenario would they want to force the less-than-optimal resolution? It makes no sense to me!

Which monitors are they? I can tell you what the Dell-dictated optimal resolution is, and you can wave that in their faces if they come back at you.
It's an eyestrain issue.
To: JenB
You need to get another one!

Yeah, I really have $60 lying around to spend on FotR and TT right now... I so wish I did. Of course I helped buy our first set of each, but they're getting left home...
However I'm making a long trip to Walmart tonight and there's a video store nearby, I'll see if they're selling used DVDs.

It's gonna rain here tonight. The weatherman just said there's no chance of rain for 24 hours.

Because some bat-blind idiot thinks the larger resolution makes the icons easier to see. It makes 'em bigger, all right ... and fuzzy.
What they need to do is to set the monitors at the proper resolution, then go into DISPLAY PROPERTIES>APPEARANCE and change the size of the icons, the icon spacing, the captions, and the menu bar. (If you're running XP, then click on ADVANCED to get to those settings.)
