The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You could say "Thanks for your input!".

When we're at home I can tune her out. But we were at a restaurant last night, so I was a captive audience.

Cow, cabbage...you know the drill...

Don't think I'll be able to afford the cable. I think the building has some sort of antena thing going; Dad said I might get a few channels. I don't watch much, it would be nice to have Fox News, but sigh.

Then again when we were looking for apartments, we went to a great little Mexican joint a mile from my place and their tvs all played Fox News. Might be a good study hang-out...

Well, my lab is mostly fixed up again now.

And I have notes on what must be left on the computers as well as how they need to be set up for optimal usage in my classes.

At least when IT guy comes back next week I will be there. And I will assist him in completing the installation of the virus protection so we'll be done with this for fall quarter.

Sitting there waiting for him to board, I looked at the Missus and said "I gots a credit card, where you wanna go?"

I'll bet she laughed, but I'll bet she thought it would be a great thing to do!!

Wonder if she's gettin' a kickback on her advertising for them? :-)

We'll see about the plant. Only thing I've inherited from my mother is her black thumb.

I'm sure you could find a nice silk ficus in Ft. Collins!

Probably more likely to have country music playing in our malls and stores, too.

Er, yeah. I have four stations programmed into my dial: two vaguely-Christian more-or-less-music stations, the station with Rush, and the conservative talking heads station.

Country's just not me. Maybe country-flavored rock, now and then.

Oh yeah! The WalMart is 7 blocks from my house. And Sam's is a block closer! :-)

You know what they say about the housing market, "location, location, location!" I got prime property for a redneck woman! :-)

We actually have a decent variety of stations here, though they're few and far between. Only some have strong enough signals to be heard everywhere.

I have an odd mix of programmed buttons...equal parts country and "soft" or classic rock (mostly seventies and eighties music), plus a few stations that play OLD music, like from the forties and fifties. Oh, and one that plays modern pop, which I mostly only listen to for five minutes on the way home - they have a cool trivia quiz.

I have NPR on one button, too...only because they have a few decent music programs on the weekend. I avoid that button all other times. *shudder*

You know... I lived really well without cable TV for a long time.

You can find live streams of Fox News or any of the other cable channels. I had a whole library of TV stream links at the time. They aren't publicized, but searching for them, you can find them.
