Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I have a book called The Keys to Avalon, but Steven Blake and Scott Lloyd which claims that the real Arthur was based on an area in Wales near the River Dee (if I understood it correctly) and that the legend itself was an attempt to solidify the Britons against outside attacks...or something like that. will have to reread it. Pretty interesting though.
IMHO, am rather worn out by retelling Arthurian stuff. EB White's story was the best version I had ever read. That, alongside Tolkien, was the fantasy literature that I enjoyed the most. Everything else just seemed like it came from a D&D game.

That's just WAY too much math for bathrooms! :-)Sounds like some Realtor was trying not to pay too much for the listing and tried to reduce the number of characters in it! "3.25 baths" costs a lot less than "two full baths, one 3/4 bath and one 1/2 bath"!

I haven't read that one. Probably should!

Besides Tolkien and Arthur, my other favorite fantasy is Robert E. Howard. Everything else comes from Tolkien and Howard, IMO--though I'm sure some might disagree :) [dons anti-flame suit :)]

Saw "King Arthur" tonight here, as well. Enjoyed it! Don't know that I'd call it a "chick flick", though...

I have people that can fix it for about $1K a day plus travel...?
Can I pick a specific one? I'd fix it for half that... oh, wait, getting the 'puters fixed wasn't the point, was it?
To: RMDupree
Oh sure, now that I get caught up everyone's gone to bed...
