The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

No, it was "King's Gate" in Williamsburg. Like I'm gonna rent a time-share in Williamsburg...(it's about 45 minutes from my house)

You still online? I can't wait to see if you got your wraps!!

I've sent all kinds of mail out to people...and I just am so excited to hear if they got it!!

I sent some disks to Wn.
I sent a care package to Maj Wes (and his 3 bunkmates) in Afghanistan
I sent you those wraps.

I hope you like 'em and I hope they haven't gone bad! I forgot it was a holiday weekend or I woulda waited.

They're hugh. I can't eat a whole one.

I'm back! Got a new set of measuring spoons and a half-cup measuring cup. Not too good a haul as far as that goes. Got another shirt almost just like the sleeveless one, 'cept it's really dark blue with white polka dots.

Coincidentally we looked at the knives and have been giving them out as awards for superior service and I assure you that everyone wants one now! It's like the Army coin thing only cooler!

Isn't that just the coolest thing?

He looks GREAT! Shaved that nasty beard off (sorry, I know he's a dwarf...but he didn't marry a whistle player and I didn't marry a man with a beard!) But now his face is so thin and his arms and legs and I can easily put my arms around his waist!

He is at almost 170 now...his goal is 165.

I love thrift stores and consignments shops, too. That is where I get ALL of JJ's clothes. I figure why spend alot of $$$ on something he is gonna outgrow in no time.

...sounds like you have a good one there. I wanna go when I come to visit OK one day :-)

They came! They look WONDERFUL - really healthy and tasty! I put most of them in the freezer, but I'm going to have one (or part of one) for my lunch tomorrow, with roast beef and spinach and ranch, probably. I can't wait to try them!

You know...I'm beginning to think I should make up a grocery list and go to the nearest Super Wal-Mart (about an hour and a quarter away) to stock up on foods I can't get here! If I could freeze things, that might not be a bad way to go - once a month or so I could pick up things like wraps and Da Vinci syrups and such.

I wonder if 'organic' pastuerized milk would produce the same symptoms in someone who's allergic?

It's a good idea. A lot of the rural people do that here.

I just keep thinking SURELY I'll find these things if I only look in the right places! St. Johnsbury isn't HUGH, but it's big for the area. But I guess we're behind the times!

I did notice that the grocery store is now carrying Da Vinci syrups...but only the regular kind - no sugarfree.

Oh that would be great!

Funny, sometimes you guys in the Hole make my mundane life seem kinda interesting! LOL I mean, I think "What a boring life!" and then one of you will say something like "I would love to do that with you!"

Kinda puts a different light on things, you know? I really thought I was the only person in the world that got excited over really cheap measuring utensils.

Ask them to carry it! If they're already ordering from DaVinci...they probably won't mind going ahead and ordering that too!

LOL ;-) Nah! I think just about anything that is cheap---is GRR8888!

...we all think our life is boring until we see it thru another's eyes. Ya know, kinda like the saying ones man's trash is another man's treasure. You have a very blessed & full life, be grateful.

"That's one of the main things I notice when I limit sugar and white flour. You'd think I'd be smart enough to keep it up, but I guess I've lived with this for so long it just seems normal. But I felt a lot better when I was on that strict diet last year."

Very interesting! I wonder what causes that side-effect--makes me wonder if certain foods might contain nutrients that offset joint pain as well. Atkins also wrote a book on medicinal benefits of food. There's another author who wrote a good book on that--I forget his name off the top of my head, have it somewhere.
