Special Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Heh, I made a lot of silly Holy Grail references over the dead thing.
Drat, we're running late - gotta get out the door for church now.
Happy 4th, everyone!
Gonna get out my flag from the 82nd in Kandahar and fly it for today, maybe play a little of Beethoven's 5th.
Good morning everybody!! Happy Independence Day!!
I have successfully survived the Rush 30th Anniversary Tour! It was a late night that was really an early morning, but it was worth it. Great, great show. After all these years the Power Trio still has what it takes.
Yesterday I think Dona has finally picked up Dad's hatred of Jetskis. Anybody remember the little flock of Geese with all the little Goslings that daily make the trip to that little stream next to the dock?
We were all sitting around up here in the house when Dona jumped up and went shouting out onto the deck. One of the dipsticks down the beach was out riding around on his jetski... came zipping down the shoreline right at the little troop of geese... and *ran them down*. Right through them. Dona went running and shouting down to the beach, with Dad behind her. Even the T's next door were shouting at the guy.
But jetski dude is oblivious... he turns around and does some donuts, and then comes back to the goslings for another pass... swamps them in his wake. What a jerk.
By now he notices that he's attracted a crowd of shouting people that are all pretty ticked off at him and he takes off. Sometime later he slinked back to his little float and put away the jetski. Dona was down on the beach carrying a big stick and standing between him and the goslings.
There were feathers all over the place on the water and on the beach, but it doesn't look like he killed any of them.
Even jetskiers don't normally use the things for chasing baby birds.
But I'm with your dad in hating the things. I think people might like them better if they didn't make such an annoyingly loud whining sound...OTOH, if you didn't hear 'em coming, they'd be even more of a menace.
Gloria Estefan ran over a jetski and killed the driver a couple years ago here in Miami, she was everyone's hero(ine) for awhile after that.
The Bastage!
Good morning there!
I am having a second morning.... woke up and made pancakes for ecurbh at 5:30 and then went back to sleep for three hours!
Walk softly....
Good grief, words escape me. If I had been there, I would have been on the beach with a different weapon of choice. What a waste of skin.
I have a really convoluted rationale for not hating the jet skis as much as Dad does. The way I figure it... jet skiiers are the same guys that would want big loud big off-road bikes in the forest, tearing up the woods, always needing to chew up a new piece of hillside rather than stick to the boring ol trail. These things are expensive and most kids probably can't afford both, so the way I figure it, for every jet ski on the water, there is one less dirt bike in the woods, and at least jet skis don't leave tracks.
But you're right.... a lot of it is the sound. It's even worse in the woods ;~D
I wonder if in the old days, people found a way to be just as obnoxious on horses...riding around in gangs, terrorizing the countryside etc. :-)
You mean you see some good in jetskis, because they keep a certain percentage of jerks out of the woods? :
I bet they did! Some of them sat around drinkin' one night and started betting each other they could ride dad's ole bull. And rodeo was born ;~D
That's my convoluted rationale, yes ;~D
Now they're tied back up on the float now... easy target. :-)
Maybe it was a mistake to remark that "ya know... a .270 could probably sink those things, and tonight, the bang would probably be mistaken for fireworks... "
Bang? What bang? ;~D
Are these the kids renting the Bernsen house - the brick house that used to have the rope swing?
Yah.
~makes frowning face~
Hullo again... didn't make it to church. Got halfway there and the road was almost flooded, there was so much rain coming down. So we came home.
Now, what to do this afternoon?
I'm hanging out with the cat. NASCAR was last night so I'm stuck with IRL today. Cubs don't play until tonight.
