The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, we got sortof skunked. Not much here at all, not worth all the fuss. The city fireworks show was tonight, so maybe that's where everyone was. All's quiet for the most part.

Don't know whether to say "sorry to hear that" or not. I'm sure it was better even for a doped Gidget, but maybe a letdown for you two. Here, we will have most of the fireworks tomorrow evening. Maybe that's when ya'll will see them in your neighborhood. (sorry Gidge)

Mmmm, peach cobbler!

We got me a Carvel Ice Cream Cake for my birthday! Good stuff, Maynard! We also got some pork ribs to barbecue tomorrow, and a Friendly's Orange Ice Cream Cake Roll for dessert!

Alicia Witt is actually almost 29! She was born two months before SSQ and I got married! Gawd I feel old!!

I just read a short bio of her, and not only was she born in MA, she was homeschooled! She got her GED at the age of 14 and headed off to L.A. with her mom to become a movie star! Wow!

But it was the apartment complex calling to say they’d run my SSN and it was coming back as a dead person

But, you're getting better! Silly Holy Grail reference, sorry!

Do let us know what's up with that!

Well I'm sitting here letting the Nyquil take effect, so I'm thinking i'm not draggin outta bed until about NOON! How's 4pm sound? ;o)

Just got finished watching The English Patient. It was pretty good, and I didn't even cry until the very end!

I'm not even sure when our town's July 4th festivities are, whether today or tomorrow. We've been doing the house stuff and I've lost track! Glad you had a good time down home. That picture of Jill and the kids is so cute. That boy is getting BIG!

Mailed you a big box of t-shirts (16 total, I think) to pack with your care packages. Included in the box is a CD with my database of HHD knife recipients. Load the Palm desktop, which I also included, and you can manipulate the file easily, and I can more easily keep you updated.

Sent out 7 more knives to Jerry from Djibouti, since I haven't found his coconut oil for popping corn, yet.

I'm working midnights on July 4 and 5, for a princely rate of time-and-a-half, the most they'll pay in off-shift premiums.

300wm; regarding the "coconut oil" - you might try a health food store or the health food section of a grocery store, LSA saw it at HyVee's "Health Market" section.

Happy Fourth of July.

Washed dishes, played lots of Civ III.

Sounds like one of my days (off).

I kick trail as a chieftan, and get routinely killed at any higher level.

I guess the "Peter Principle" sez I oughta be a chieftan. Hands up, any who want to be in my tribe :)

Happy Birthday to the United States of America!

We went to the Frisco Rough Riders baseball game last night. The Star Spangled Banner was played by a man from Grand Prairie. Prolly to coolest rendition of the song I have ever heard. With a violin bow, he plays a very delicate instrument known as the saw.

I had never been here before. The stadium is very nice, and guess who has the sponsorship rights? Dr. Pepper!! Now that is a company I can support :-) (unlike Ameri-whatever who rename my precious ballpark in Arlington).
