Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Actually, she has been sleeping since just before noon. I fully expect her to wake up starving any minute now.

WOW! That is a nice long nap! She'll be ravenous when she wakes up, that's for sure.
But it is VEY nice for Mommy and Daddy to be able to hang out with grown-ups for a little bit too, even if it's just online. :-)
Alyson just turned 2 this past Sunday and she still only sleeps from 11pm to 8am. Other than that, it's the Energizer bunny all day long.

As far as moving the chairs, as a papist...You're one of them, too? I guess because I was only in my early teens when the altar rails were first removed and we went to the English language Mass, it didn't bother me too much. What I'VE been horrified by is the watering down of Church teaching over the last 30 years by feminist nuns and 'relevant' priests, which I believe directly resulted in the abuse problems that have been publicized the past year. (Can you tell this bothers me? LOL!)
Anyway, the old externals hold no fascination for me, whether the placement of the Altar, or the language used, because the important part of Mass itself does not change. As for the music, I love Gregorian chant, medieval polyphony, the Oxford Hymnal, and contemporary Praise and Worship. I think it's important to make a joyful noise to Praise Jesus, no matter how its done!

I guess that the liturgical changes bother me more because I was in my 30's when most of themk happenned, too late to accept changes easily.
The scandals of course are nightmarish, as is the toleration of obvious heresies -- this is rather a cause and effect situation as I look at it.
