Word For The Day, Thurday, June 17, 2004
Thursday, June 17, 2004 | Slip 18

Posted on 06/17/2004 5:37:05 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

Folderol, also Folderal noun:
Pronunciation: Pronounced about three different ways. Take your pick.
Etymology: Probably fr. Latin

1) Impractical, unnecessary or excessive trimming of finery or effects: pretty, but flimsy or useless ornament : something that is unnecessary: trifle, gewgaw
2) A nonessential talk or action: piffle, nonsense

*UGH!*
Folding laundry!
I ended up having to fold combined laundry, my stuff, teh missus stuff AND teh step-daughter's stuff.
found a few wearables that made me raise an eyebrow, and asked the missus what the joke was.
She wasn't paying any attention and said she didn't know and wandered off.
Up walks step-daughter who has massive coronary because "FAH-ther" is holding up a pair of her wearables.
(Let's just say it was massively embarrassing for her.)

Good thing too, I had no clue how one would've even attempted to fold the item.

rme......There is something about the ability to push 300+Lbs of your chest that keeps guys from teasing you about being cute.

Gay smelling w/o wear, however, is in the same league as red spandex workout shorts.....and is fair game, if not deserving of ridicule. ; )

i like bleach but have destroyed too many of my own clothes with it, so i use oxyclean now. i forget what i did, must have put a tablecloth that had not been previously washed, in with the whites, so everything was a nice sunny YELLOW xshub and xsboy have also worn PINK undershirts and underpants too, when i leave something red in with the whites...... i do far more damage to my own clothes than he has managed to do. cardinal rule that he now understands is brassieres and bathing suits do not go in the dryer.

Discovered that I reacted to certain fabric softeners due to my undies being fabric softenered.
That was massively uncomfortable for the next couple months as I tried to do my own laundry and not use the softener AND heal up from the reaction to the stuff in the first place.
Ever get a new watch and have your wrist bubble and peel due to the plastic watchband?

Plastic watchbands are the only other thing I react to like that.
Certain perfumeson specific people [dunno why], pollens, and specific stinging insects I react to.
So far no known medication allergies.
I'd hate to discover one though.

I have to use all fragrance free laundry products. Otherwise my skin gets all itchy.

my pet peeve is that i prefer to have things folded and laid in a basket belonging to the owner. xshub will just willy nilly fold stuff and pile it in there and it takes a million times longer to put away. one basket per person, that person can carry the basket UP the stairs and put the stuff in their own drawers, that is what it should be. but xshub thinks his stuff should be nestled in with mine because we share a room, rme.

correction: I can use Downey, but EVERYTHING ELSE is fragrant free.

Well, I was also rather mystified by the Vic's Secret Water Bra when I ended up doing laundry once.
Reached into te pile of clothes and pulled out this jiggly squishy piece of fabric.
Sat there and made it 'flubber' about for a few seconds before asking what it was and why it was in with my shirts.
The answer was, "Because you were doing laundry and I needed it washed for tomorrow."

heck that was the worst part of having babies (well one of the worst parts) needing to use DREFT and Ivory snow, instead of Tide.

LOL!
I've been banned from folding stuff unless there's no other choice.
(No-one likes how I fold stuff.)

Yikes!
I try to keep stuff neatly seperated (relatively so) so that no-one goes borrowing my pants anymore.
