Not being one who excels in debates, this is the way I read the happiness statement.
If you spend your life discontent, always wanting, life will pass you by. When you are old and gray, you will realize that you missed the joy of your family, your children, your grandchildren and your friends because you spent your life wanting more instead of living life to the fullest.
I do not disagree with any of your comments just the interpretation of the statement.

I feel sure we are all in basic agreement.
Happiness is a way of living, not a result of anything else.

Hi Amy, perhaps you can help. I'm looking for a poem, I kinda think it may have been one of the classical greeks, ain't sure, may have been contempory, anyway, it details a hundred men going into combat, from a coward, to those who would follow the coward, to those who would weigh the fight from the rear and those who would fight from the front of the group, to those ten fighters who would follow the one warrior. If that rings any bells with you, or any y'all, I'd apprieciate the reference.

I was hoping we could fake it since you are on just three legs now. Isn't it one of your right legs that is kinda gimpy? ;~)
