Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I still make my boys regular pancakes all the time. They need those extra carbs for energy and growth! They are VERY VERY EASY...
½ cup Self-rising Flour
½ cup whole milk
1 medium egg (if you double the recipe, just use one LARGE egg)
1 T oil
1 T sugar
Whir this all together and pour into an oiled medium-hot skillet.
Jedis love this and it's almost as quick as pouring cereal in a bowl. I put blueberries in them for Joshua and serve them with syrup and whipped cream.

Maybe I'll have time this weekend!
Since they take a bit more effort, I just can't see making them on a week morning. And they're kinda over what we're supposed to have for nuts in a day unless I save half the recipe for another time. Just a little splurge, though...I'm OK with that.
BTW, I was bad and sneaked a peek at the scale again today, though it's not my official weigh-in day. The extra pound is gone and took another with it, so I'm down one from last week. Whew...about time. I was stuck for three weeks! And that one pound was a second digit change, which is always nice.

Thank YOU for the support. The goodwill and kind words and just plain Give-A-Damn that so many like y'all do make it all worthwhile.
I just hope we all can continue to make YOU proud of us.

've got to upgrade (actually repair first) Luke's fort in the backyard. He was telling me he wants a castle with a tower and a bridge and alligators...(he ain't quite gettin' all of that) vey cool! We were thinkin about turnin elf-boy's bed into a castle, but this fort thing has major potential.

I like mine fluffy and real fat! With gobs of peanut butter and maple syrup on top. So much, you can't even swallow you have some much PB on the roof of your mouth and warm pancake in your throat!

I'm making these tonight (for in the morning) for the boys...these are a hit at the g'nad household, from what I understand! They take a bit more effort so I'm making them tonight as a special treat before I go to the Wedding...
Yeast-risen Belgian Waffles
Combine in a large bowl:
2 C. all-purpose flour
2 T. Sugar
3/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Active Dry Yeast
In another bowl, warm up 2 cups of whole milk and add a stick of melted butter. Mix it in with the dry ingredients. Mix it till well blended (I use a mixer).
Now cover the batter up, set it on the counter overnight. It'll rise up pretty big, so give it lots of space to rise!
Next morning, separate 3 eggs.
Mix the yolks in with the batter.
Whip the egg whites till they form soft peaks...I use a hand mixer with a whisk attachment...works very fast. I also add just a sprinkle of sugar before I start beating the whites...I hear it makes them form up faster.
Fold the egg whites into the batter carefully. There will be little lumps of egg white...that's ok.
Pour into your waffle iron. I use 3/4ths of a cup, but my iron is a belgian iron.

Luke's room has a castle painted on the wall and we got him one of those Mega-Blocks building castles for Christmas. I don't see the castle thing happening with the fort. I am tho, planning to hoist a Jolly Roger from the top.

Wow... long, long ago when I was in confirmation class, we were taught there were only two major divisions... the northern and the southern (I forget which organization was which) on account of the Civil War. Are the other organizations fairly recent, or have they been there all along and our pastor just never mentioned them?
To: PurpleQ
I have yet to try pancakes with peanut butter! It sounds reallly good, but just wouldn't have occurred to me. I remember someone else here mentioning that.
Sounds like it would be fantastic, especially with real maple syrup.

There have always been divisions... but the big ones started in, was it 73 or 83? Anyway, after the two main denominations merged into the PCUSA, there were problems, and all the offshoots happened. My denomination is the biggest of those offshoots.

WOW! That is 10 more steps than I am used to. Combine, mix, fold, separate, sprinkle, beat....my shake and pour has me at the table already stuffing my face.

ROFLOL!!! Now the self-rising pancakes are not too hard! And they're CHEAP, which is of course my main motivation.

It is yummy, when the pancake is right off the pan and still hot. The peanut butter gets warm and creamy! Now I am starving! Is it lunch time yet???
