Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Brilliant movie. Even if it does have George Clooney.

We watched the movie Dummy, the other night. You were right about the language, but it was a hilarious, and very sweet movie!

Yeah, we loved it! Even more so since we weren't expecting anything. It was one of those rentals where we got sick of searching and just grabbed one. The kids had seen Adrien Brody in another movie and really like him as an actor, so we figured we'd give it a shot.

We've been quoting it ever since. I wouldn't mind owning it...and considering how few movies I actually BUY, that's pretty high praise.

Good morning!

Gonna be a warm one here. Already not too far shy of 70, and VEY humid. Goody.

But my 'maters will like it, I guess.

Yep! I wasn't sure about even watching it, but he did a good job in it.

And I like the music, so that's a bonus, too.

Warm here, too. Going to be near 90. I'm wearing shorts now, but I have to dress up this afternoon for the big choir. Not sure what I'll wear yet.

I think it took a good while for my chives to grow when I planted 'em from seed. I don't know how long you've had 'em planted but I think mine didn't come up for at least a month!

Also, I always buy that seed when it gets so cheap! I keep it in the fridge till next year. They say usually maybe 40% doesn't germinate - but hey - a dime is a lot less than 40% off the cost!

Spent the weekend over on Chololoskee Island, in the Everglades, with some friends. Went fishing down to Lostman's River, did pretty well.

Wow. You know Sam, you are startin' to make us think that *you* are the one with *the* life here! :-)

Hm...I should do that with the seeds! Do you keep them in the regular part of the fridge, or in the freezer?

I like that idea. As cheap as they are now, I could buy a lot more seeds than I would at full price...so even with less germination, I'd still get at LEAST as many plants.

Well, I have everthing packed except for last minute items...which I have listed on the fridge. Today is going to be a pretty dull day, as will half of tomorrow. But tomorrow afternoon, things will start to pick up and not slow down till take-off on Thurs.

No, this is the real thing - think I mentioned last week my denomination's General Assembly is in Pittsburgh this year, and tonight's opening ceremonies. About a hundred singers from local churches are going.

I just keep them in the regular part of my fridge. You will laugh at this. They are in one of those hard plastic cases that we used to use to keep 5 - 1/4" floppy disks. Hey, it wasn't needed anymore and was just the right size to keep all those envelopes of seeds together. It's on the back of my middle fridge shelf where food would just get lost and they're there for the next season when I need 'em. :-)
