Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

But, is it a dry heat? I spent some time in Las Vegas in June 2002. The statement "it's not the heat, it's the humidity" is a farce. IT'S THE HEAT!

Sheesh! Can't a guy be a smart@$$ in peace? I know I ain't never experienced heat like smaagee is experiencin'.
Given muh druthers, I'druther experience 100 degrees with no (or little) humidity than 100 degrees with the humidity we get here.
'Course it also helps if the pool attendant is there to bring you umbrella drinks and spritz you down with her water bottle. (Missus and I were at a resort once where they did that).

It'll be 93 degrees here later, but let me tell you that it is so nasty to walk out of your house before 8am and hit a wall of 80 degree, sticky, wet air. UGH!!
smaagee - I'd send you a kiddie pool or sumthin' if I could! *grin*
I'm going swimming at trini's this weekend, weather permitting! Counting down the days until Saturday...

Excellent choice for a "cool-down" photo, Corin!!!
We won't tell smaagee that the actors nearly suffocated with heat in that fake snow though. LOL!

heh.... WN would rather be in a dry 111 than in Rosie's 45 ANY DAY!!!
But, you prolly wouldn't catch me dressed the way Steve has to dress at 111. :-)
45 is just WAY too freakin' cold for humans!

One of the people who came for music last night is gonna give me some cages for 'mater plants. Yeah! I think you'll like them! Hopefully some plants will turn up now.

Yep...Joshua didn't have his helmet on...my fault. Usually when they go out in the street, they have to wear their helmet. But he was just riding around in the drive way and I said "Hey, go over there and see if you can turn around!" and off he went, and down he went.
Needless to say, I won't allow that again. Steve took the boys down to the local convenience store for an ice cream last night and they wore their helmets! We're planning on riding in the park this evening...
I'm happy he just got right back later and rode without being afraid...he's got grit, for all his emotions...

Given muh druthers, I'druther experience 100 degrees with no (or little) humidity than 100 degrees with the humidity we get here. Hey, I'm with ya! The hottest I've ever really been in was spending a month in Tucson in July/August. It would get to the 112/114 range in the afternoons. And I would be out in it. Wasn't near as miserable as Houston in 80 degree temps!!! HONEST!!!
Didn't have nobody waitin' on me by the pool but there was a pool we visited from time to time.... it was after one of my traumatic marriages ended and one of my male cousins there had a LOT of cute friends! :-)
