Yep...Joshua didn't have his helmet on...my fault. Usually when they go out in the street, they have to wear their helmet. But he was just riding around in the drive way and I said "Hey, go over there and see if you can turn around!" and off he went, and down he went.
Needless to say, I won't allow that again. Steve took the boys down to the local convenience store for an ice cream last night and they wore their helmets! We're planning on riding in the park this evening...
I'm happy he just got right back later and rode without being afraid...he's got grit, for all his emotions...
Did you or Steve give Joshua instructions about how to handle those gravel slides so he can think about bein' prepared next time?
He was turnin' left. If there's time try to turn right, put down left leg to catch self and throw right leg over the bike to get off? Sometimes.... sometimes you can stop the skid and sometimes the bike goes down but you can just step off and not get hurt.
I missed the spill post, but Eh - don't fret about that... all of us grew up without wearing bike helmets ever!
Talk about pluck, the little kid that used to own my pony prolly got dumped off of her 20 times... basically every time he ever rode her. We'd just pick him up and put him back on. Kids are durable... It's grown ups that can't take the spills. I got thrown off a couple years ago and hurt for a week!
