Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good snag!
Just back from church. Nice sermon. I think it's gonna rain, so looks like an indoor afternoon.

The storm went through here so quickly that it wasn't worth staying awake for....unless another one came through that I missed. :)

I got a prayer request from a fellow Freeper last night--not a Hobbit Holer so it should be okay to post here. It was confidential so I can't describe the nature of it, but the person needs prayers both for themselves and for someone else who is in a very dire situation. Please keep these two people in your prayers--God will know their names.

It was on being "dead to the law", ie, that the Old Testament legalism couldn't save, and why, and what that means for us - we're working on Galatians, have been in the second half of chapter 2 for about a month. He packs a lot into 45 minutes, though.

Yup, that was a quick movin' storm, there was a bit more rain sometime during the night but the wind was over. Talked with a friend from a couple streets away, seems a branch blew onto a power line and started a fire, that may have been what took our power out. Guess that we'll check out how much on our evening walk.
Neighbors a mile and a half away? Dang, that country is flat filling up. :-)

I've been wondering that myself. :-)

It would be a good way to christen the happy couple's new wide screen TV.

When my friend was taking a class on it in grad school he taught a course on it at our church, and we spent about a week on each chapter; it was one of my favorite classes.

I heard my neighbor's rooster crow, early in the day.
I heard his axe beyond the wood, and now I'm bound away.
Some folks crave the city life, others love the town.
Well I'll be bound for the lonesome wood
and there I'll settle down.
