My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Well, that's what people said about Drowning Pool when their lead OD'd on the tour bus.
The rest of the band went out and dragged some poor sap into the band and told him he was the new lead.
But, with Morphine, I don't think they'll do that.
Sandman had a baritone voice that was perfect for the band's sound.

I went to the beach that day
because I was lonely for
the sounds of the breaking surf
the warm sun
on my back
I thought no one went to
that particular part of the beach
I was startled when you
spoke to the wind
and you lifted my hair
from the kelp
With your fingers
you traced
the Dragonfly tattoo
on my shoulder
I knew of you and
dancing in the wind
from ages past
and covered my
nakedness with kelp
best I could
and hoped you were real
and not a dream on
a hot day at the beach
with green kelp
helplessly
entangled
in your
hair

When I'm missing you
the ghost of you clings to me
like frozen condensation on glass
ice lace and white feathers
your ghost is etched on my memory
I am haunted by your absence...
then confetti rain you blaze across the skies
playful comic comet display at twilight...
you warm my soul melting in love for you...
as ice lace and white feathers dissolve on warmed glass
you decant your flavor over me
I am soft in your descending love
delicious in glass lace and white feathers
I adore you confetti rain
you cause me to smile...
we laugh together over silly private jokes
Hurry back... I am haunted by your absence...

Should thou lovest me this day I would be content in today not ask for tomorrow...
But... live this day only in splendor of knowing thou lovest me today...

Facing It
by Yusef Komunyakaa
My black face fades,
hiding inside the black granite.
I said I wouldn't,
dammit: No tears.
I'm stone. I'm flesh.
My clouded reflection eyes me
like a bird of prey, the profile of night
slanted against morning. I turn
this waythe stone lets me go.
I turn that wayI'm inside
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
again, depending on the light
to make a difference.
I go down the 58,022 names,
half-expecting to find
my own in letters like smoke.
I touch the name Andrew Johnson;
I see the booby trap's white flash.
Names shimmer on a woman's blouse
but when she walks away
the names stay on the wall.
Brushstrokes flash, a red bird's
wings cutting across my stare.
The sky. A plane in the sky.
A white vet's image floats
closer to me, then his pale eyes
look through mine. I'm a window.
He's lost his right arm
inside the stone. In the black mirror
a woman's trying to erase names:
No, she's brushing a boy's hair.

Sailing

Catching full rapture
of breeze on mainsail
I inhale ... a freedom akin
Magic of waves
gently rock me awry
as I bend from the sail
against wind
Releasing my cares
I then think to dare
close my eyes
and venture out to sea
To let life begin
as Im sailing the wind
absolved of custody from worries - - Im free!
Salty waves make wake a cool misty spray
The creaky old mast, bends and moans
Sedated in peace
under my breath I release
hushed lilts
from old mariners songs
Not picture nor narration depict how I feel
as I awaken
from my wishful dreams of old
This sailor within me
keeps hold yearnings to be free
So - - I wont quit sailing dreams...till life lets go!

Good morning, Lair! A lovely day here!
The Presence Of Love
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
And in Life's noisiest hour,
There whispers still the ceaseless Love of Thee,
The heart's Self-solace and soliloquy.

You mould my Hopes, you fashion me within ;
And to the leading Love-throb in the Heart
Thro' all my Being, thro' my pulses beat ;
You lie in all my many Thoughts, like Light,
Like the fair light of Dawn, or summer Eve
On rippling Stream, or cloud-reflecting Lake.
And looking to the Heaven, that bends above you,
How oft ! I bless the Lot, that made me love you.
