I like the sense that these guys have been standing ready for oh-so-many years, keeping everything prepared for the lighting of the beacons, and then still be so very prepared to light them promptly. There was nary a glitch in the whole sequence and the magnificent view of the scenes going from one mountain top to the next was incredible. Funny that such an almost insignificant part of the whole thing should affect me the way it does.
Hey there... well, we'll see how long this lasts. Seems to be working now.
I stopped on the way to the 'partment and got my copy of the ROTK. Watching it now, but I don't know how far I'll get.
I agree about the lighting of the fires sequence. Really gets to me too. don't know zactly why.
The beacon scene was one of my favorite parts. BTW I was talking to my friend from Tibet about that scene once and he said they have a relay system like that there, too, which I thought was cool.
I put the soundtrack on audiotape for my van, and when that part plays, it almost gets me fahklempt! That one, and the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, when the music moves to the triumphant notes!
