I laughed out loud when the NASA chick radioed to the space station, "We're getting reports down here that the storm is breaking up; what are you seeing up there?" and only then do the astronauts *look out the window* and see that yes, the storm really is breaking up! Like they wouldn't be monitoring the storm continuously and reporting regular updates to the ground... like the Earth isn't surrounded with dozens of satellites that would be sending pics down to NASA and NOAA every few minutes...

NASA's connection speed was slow that day because it was using dial-up :)

To me, it looked like Detective Will Smith discovers a conspiracy to hide the fact that robots have become sentient and evil (naturally) and then has to fight off an army of mad robots to expose the truth.
Don't know if I'm going to like it.

It's been so long since I read the actual book, that I barely remember it. I need to find a copy and refresh my memory.

To me, it looked like Detective Will SmithNOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I like Will Smith in comedies, but when he tries to do serious stuff I just start thinking of DJ Jazzy Jeff. . .They screwed up that Wild, Wild West adaptation really, really badly by putting him in it.

Right, isn't that why Asimov invented the 3 Laws? So that he'd never have evil robot armies running around?Except Robocop introduced a fourth law which creates gridlock in Asimov's three laws.

Fer one, "I, Robot" is a collection of short stories rather than a book. There is no story comparable to what I saw in the preview. In one, someone was trying to find a robot who might be capable of murder, but it was all done with logical analysis. No car chases or robot rampages.

isn't that why Asimov invented the 3 Laws?Exactly... IIRC, wasn't the actual story a murder mystery? A robot apparently murders a human, and the whole story revolves around solving the mystery of whether or not the robot did it, and if it did, how it did it without violating the Three Laws.
No robot armies that I recall, though it has been a long time...

Asimov invented a 4th law... the Zeroth law takes precedence, but only in robots sophisticated enough to reason it out.

No, some of his books had similar premises... I'm not sure a robot ever actually murdered a human. Maybe one, but I don't recall. Usually turned out to be a human trying to frame a robot.
