Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's sounding like we're actually meeting our friends halfway, in Bradford...which is one exit NORTH of Fairlee. I still wouldn't be opposed to meeting in Lebanon, though. You don't have to twist my arm very hard to get me to go near a Borders!
I say let's pick a place in Fairlee, White River (that'd be nice, too) or Lebanon. Name it, and I'll be there, brother in tow!

Drivers were advised to be extra careful on the very wet roads. Because of tornados? What an oddly written story.
I was born to laugh at tornados.

Good evening!
Well, my brother and I both had to go out and do SOMETHING tonight, but being where we are...the wildest craziest thing we could think of was an evening trip to Staples and Wal-Mart. Pretty sad, eh? But I got more plant seeds and a window box I'm going to use for some of my herbs. I hope they grow!
And I'm taking a half-day tomorrow. Woo-hoo! So I'm already feeling like I'm in vacation mode.

Yeah - it's awful bright out there at the moment.... lens has a hard time between the dark shade here in the trees and the brightness of the pasture beyond.I'm looking for something like that with an infrared lens right now--want to see what wildlife activity is going on in the backyard at night.

Heh...have to see if any of them actually grow. I have plants already for sage, parsley and mint...the mint is some I got from WNeighbor, and it's growing like CRAZY. It's lucky it's in its own patch, or I think it'd just take over all available ground.
I also got seeds for garlic chives (planted those already in a pot), basil, lemon balm, dill, and (I think...they're in the other room) coriander. Also a climbing flowering plant to put in front of the dogs' pen.

Wooo-hoo! Look out world, it's Crazy Rosie, and she's having a grand time!
Of course, my idea of a wild night is watching anime until 11 rather than 10:30 and half a bar of sugarfree chocolate, so... are you sure one of us didn't get swapped into the wrong family?

Heh...oh, and the other part of my wild and crazy evening was having mock rocky road ice cream...took a sugarfree fudge pop, melted it just enough to get it off the stick and smushed it up with a little peanut butter and whipped cream and then froze it again. It was wonderful!
We might do even more wild and crazy things this weekend...like driving an hour or so away to eat a picnic lunch. *gasp*

I might - paint my toenails!!!Only in respectable yellow and green Hobbit colours, I hope! Any other colours would be akin to having an adventure, and you know what respectable Hobbitfolk think of those. I tell you, that Gandalf with his anime is a bad influence on you. . .

To me, they look like normal chives. But supposedly they have a hint of garlic taste. Sounds like something nice to add to salads and eggs...hope they grow!
And the sage is still new. I bought the plants at the farmers' market. If that takes, I'll be very happy. I adore sage! Especially with chicken or pork, but I love the taste of it in any case. I tasted a few leaves and...well, insert the Homer drool face here and you get the picture. ;-)
I also have that little patch of wild thyme. It's taking awhile to come to life, but there ARE some green leaves now, which is positive. It was pretty dried out looking at first.

I'm not really supposed to have ice cream until later on this diet, when I'm closer to goal...and someone on another site mentioned making that mock version as a treat. It sounded so good I had to try it. Used the natural peanut butter, which I love anyway, and it turned out nicely!
