Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm wondering just how many specials can you make about a movie. Don't they all start sounding the same after a while?Yes :) The first few about FotR excited me, but now I've seen so many. But still, it's Tolkien--never get tired of Tolkien, so I guess I'd rather watch the same Tolkien-related stuff over again than 95% of what's on TV.

That's what I did with Rankin-Bass and Bakshi for years before the Peter Jackson movies came out!--and as you can see it's had no ill long-term effects on my mind :)

Hobbitcam is working here :)
It's been raining off and on here all week--so hard the other night that it washed grooves in the gravel driveway so deep I had to go fill them in to avoid potholes. Looks like it might rain again today, though so far it's just been threatening. No tornados yet, fortunately. Ironically I hear there's a drought out on the West Coast.

I think so--you mean the bluish patch behind the tree on the left? Stocking it with fish would be cool :) Just make sure to put a sign up that no Smeagols are allowed to fish there! "My only wish, to catch a fish. . ." :)

The cam we have running now is a Logitech that probably costs $20-$30.

Yeah - it's awful bright out there at the moment.... lens has a hard time between the dark shade here in the trees and the brightness of the pasture beyond.

Well now I've seen everything! Tenino is five miles from here.
Tornado touches down in Western Washington

KING This barn in Tenino was hit by the funnel cloud. |
SEATTLE A tornado tore part of the roof off a barn near Tenino, Wash., while torrential downpours hit Western Washington Thursday.
The tornado touched down shortly after 3 p.m., four miles southwest of Tenino. It was down for 1 or 2 minutes.
Authorities on the scene said the debris from the barn was spread over a quarter mile.
Originally described as a funnel cloud, it was classified as a tornado because it touched down, said Allen Kam of the National Weather Service.
Kam described it as a very weak tornado. Since then it weakened.

Nobody was injured, but the weather gave area resident Ricky Johansen.
"It looked like a giant fist came down from the sky and pulverized this shed. It was like a hammer. I was afraid it was going to come back and get me," he said.
Drivers were advised to be extra careful on the very wet roads.
