Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Can't I have an emotional breakdown without being told I'm wrong, or shouldn't feel this way? :~D Stop it! My turn for a tantrum.

All prospective brides are allowed at least ONE tantrum! Don't you remember Sonya doing the same thing, albeit maybe for a different reason? Go ahead and tantrum. We'll still be here when you're done! ;o)

On the other hand, I still get a moot with Suzi, and only an hour away!

Woo Hoo! I'll find out more about the timing for Sunday and freepmail you the details.

Cool beans! And we should figure out a place to meet...wish I knew Fairlee a bit better.

I suppose we COULD also meet at Borders or somewhere else in Lebanon again. That's on your way back, isn't it?

When were you heading out to CO again? And how far will you be from the Denver area?

Just for future planning purposes.

Sigh...I have plenty of projects to do around my house. Every time I have TIME to mow the lawn, it rains. It's really looking horrible right now...like a jungle with giant dandelions.

I am from the northwest! - I know how it goes with mowing and rain! I bet you're exaggerating about how bad it looks. I bet they are just regular sized dandelions ;~D

I can take a picture! It's shocking.

And I still haven't used the weedwhacker this year...which is a bad thing. And then I WAS going to clear away some brush and maybe start a path down the hill so I can eventually do a rock garden.

You'd think with just a postage stamp of a lot to landscape...I'd do better.

Yeah, I know, I know...I just wish sometimes I was one of those people who could a) keep a house neat without seeming to try and b) have a beautiful garden and lawn, also without seeming to try hard. Everything I try outside comes up weedy and / or lopsided and messy looking!

I can visualize...but I can't achieve. If I were rich, I'd hire someone to keep a beautiful flower garden for me, with nice little paths and borders. I'd put MY work into vegetables. I could do those.

Yeah, I'd probably be coming back through Lebanon on the way home.

You're just one chick. You'll get around to it.... or you won't. I bet if you died tomorrow you wouldn't have regrets about the weeds in the lawn.

I love to mow... it's more of a hobby than a drive to have a neat lawn. Probably that is true for those other lawns you see too.

If that would be easiest for you, just let me know! I kind of like the idea of exploring Fairlee, but I have no clue where we could meet there...and Lebanon has no shortage of eating places.

That could well be true...but I still feel inadequate! The worst of it is...last year someone mowed my lawn FOR me a few times, and I never found out who it was. On the one hand, they could have just realized that I have trouble finding time and felt sorry for me...but on the other, it could be a neighbor I don't know as well who was embarrassed by my lawn being in their neighborhood. *blush*
