Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I am glad you're pleased with this new eating plan. I am sure it makes you feel better. I'm good now... but when I gain much weight my knees always start bothering me more. ick.. I think only old folks are asposed to say that! :-)

How about those exploding paint canisters

I like that idea! "Officer, just keep a look-out for the smurfs!"

I've not loaded alot of .44, just some for a friend of mine that had one.

Is that an all lead bullet? Hornady says they push their jacketed 240gr to about 1350fps. An all lead bullet should be somewhat slower than that, I'd guess, to stay stable. Maybe 1100fps, and it'll still hit like a mother...

I couldn't even get my old size 6's to meet in the front, even laying down on the bed...it was aweful! Now these go on, and zip up easily...but I will feel more comfy in them when I loose a bit more...

I guess never being pretentious isn't the same as never bragging? ;~D

You know I don't allow people who wear a size six or even a size eight talk about dieting anymore.... so you are gonna have to go back to chickens and whistles.

Congratulations, and I am not really depressed. Snif.... Honest!

Hey hair... what's the deal with the USS Olympia? Did they really cancel their visit?

They day I have to lie down to put pants on... is the day I buy bigger pants. :-)

It's easier and cheaper than dieting.

Well, after I came home from having Joshua...all I had was my size 6 pants...and maternity pants. I did ultimately have to buy larger pants...size 12 actually. I tried up until I did the Flylady cleanup to get into the size 6s again...but finally gave them away. Regrettin' that now. Jeans are expensive new.

2J.... Thanks, it isn't a bad picture of me, but then there is a big piece of strategically placed cardboard...

You're nice. Not honest, but nice. :~D I also know that if I was able to fit into size 8 jeans, let alone six, I wouldn't be talking about my weight loss plan.

Ohfercryinoutloud.

How utterly embarrassing. Did you see this post in the Washington page? It's a letter that freeper Garjog posted:

Dear Olympia City Council member:

As a life long resident of Washington State, I strongly express my regret at the ill timed and poorly reasoned justification to turn away the USS Olympia from your port.

Your resolution brings shame on our state from across the nation at a time when our military men and women are risking their lives to protect us.

It is irrelevant what you think about the current conflict -- snubbing the USS Olympia crew is an intolerably rude insult to visitors to our state.

The resolution essentially marks the sailors – and by logical inference all who serve in the military -- as officially un-welcomed non-persons.

This sounds like the way the cities in the south 60 years ago treated African Americans.

You make the people of my state not only appear like enemy sympathizers – hoping for our defeat in the war on terror – but completely rude jerks who refuse to welcome men and women devoting their lives to our protection.

The fact that the sub is named after the state capital makes your insult all the more outrageous.

To say that the nuclear powered sub is an environmental threat just by docking in your port is idiotic.

To argue that the costs of the docking should be used for other causes is an obvious attempt to provide some rational basis for your anti-American bigotry. There would be no additional costs to the navy.

Your actions only increase the chance that men and women in uniform visiting or working in Olympia may fear becoming the targets of violent attacks. Words have consequences, and your hateful rhetoric is an invitation for violence against those singled out as officially un-welcome.

Your decision is a colossal embarrassment to everyone in our state.

Action Requested: Please rescind the resolution un-inviting the USS Olympia from your port and issue an apology for this hurtful and unfriendly message.

More Action Requested: If you are unable to rescind the resolution, then we ask that you immediately resign. You have wasted too much of the council’s time on this truly un-patriot insult to our military.

Life Long Washingtonian
