I've not loaded alot of .44, just some for a friend of mine that had one.

Is that an all lead bullet? Hornady says they push their jacketed 240gr to about 1350fps. An all lead bullet should be somewhat slower than that, I'd guess, to stay stable. Maybe 1100fps, and it'll still hit like a mother...

Cast bullets scare me at those velocities. Can lead up a barrel so badly, it's like applying body solder to the inside of the barrel. When I have a need for speed, jacketed bullets are the way to go. Easier to clean up jacket fouling than lead fouling.
