Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I recommend the two disc set (in the sepia packing)...it has deleted scenes and other extras in it that are very good and give a better idea of what went into the whole thing.

We liked the stage show of Titanic better anyway.

No, I made the mistake of ordering mine from Amazon and I included it with a couple of other things. I'm not supposed to get it until sometime next week. *snif*

I like 'em!

I have a friend who makes LJ icons but she won't make any LotR icons because she says "everyone does that". Sigh. And I, of course, have no graphics abilities at all.

What time are you taking off on Monday? I found a rememberance ceremony in Fort Gibson, not too far from here, at the National Cemetary...I'd kinda like to attend.

OH I LOVE the music!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just bought the soundtrack the other day...my fav since seeing the movie has been Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. Utterly moving. And Boccherini is delightful as well.

Jen, do you think your friend would be willing to make M&C icons?

that's it...Im gonna get the theatrical ROTK this weekend. I gotta see my Pip...

I didn't really like the movie that much...too much fighting and not enough plot or dialog...

But the music WAS cool. And I'd like to read the books at some point. I have a feeling I'd like those better.

That one has been a favorite of mine since I happened upon a Vaughn Williams CD on sale at Newbury comics. It is one of the most romantic songs I believe I've ever heard!! I was surprised as first when it started playing in the movie, but it works perfectly with that scene because of the building passion of the piece.

My mom is in the process of buying a new car. A Lincoln Navigator (I think that's what it's called)...it's gonna have a DVD player, GPS and one of those cameras that helps you see when you're in reverse.

I think it costs about what we owe on our house...I'm not kidding.

Heh...I think those don't cost much more than what I paid ALTOGETHER for my little house. Scary!

Not that gadgets aren't cool, but...

Well, I'll have to make sure she gets a piece of masking tape and puts my name on it somewhere...ROFLOL!!! That's what we do with any item of theirs that we want to inherit!!

I wouldn't be surprised if it costs MORE! Why is she getting that big Navigator instead of the smaller Aviator? If it's just her and your Dad, and she only needs seating for an extra 3 folks, the Aviator should work well. I think it seats 5, like the Ford Explorer.

I'll check with her once she gets home for the summer - she's temporarily at a low bandwidth and so not able to do that sort of thing.

Man, I wish I had her talent for weirdness. She can find an appropriate quote for any picture. Sometimes it's not even from the fandom - my favorite icon she's done has an anime character with the slogan "Born to be Gryffindor". (Scary thing is, she's right)

She's got oodles of Hornblower icons. You don't care for those, do you?

I have no idea...

I'll be sure and take some pictures of it, if she gets it. She could chicken out at the last minute....

I hope she lets me drive it!

This is what she drives now...like this one but without that little doo-hickey on the trunk...a black Chrysler 300M.
