Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Be sure to leave a large, unspecified slush fund in the budget :)

I've never been to Niagara Falls. I'd like to go someday...but it's a long trip. Eight or nine hours from here, at least.

I wish it were coming out sooner, since we don't have a movie (alas!) to wait for.

Worse thing is, she'd come to a meeting and say "We have this much money and we have to pay for this and this"
15 minutes later, "and this..."
15 minutes later, "oh, and this..."

I'm bad at geography, so I really have no clue about this sort of thing... where is halfway between us? And how long is that?
Just thinking aloud... taking a half-day Friday would give time to get somewhere... two full days and back on Monday... we should have thought about this two weeks ago, though.

Be sure to leave a large, unspecified slush fund in the budget :) I just want to make payroll without having to extend our line of credit.

You are WELCOME! I just love the songs...they are the classic hymns that I love so much but are just sung beautifully...
I'd never even heard of this band before...my mom gave me a copy of the CD and I've gone nuts over it.
But that is also my personality. I'm either totally uninterested in something or completely swept away. You may or may not have the same response. LOL

My littlest sister wants me to take her for a "birthday trip".
How old is she, Rosie? 14?

I think anything halfway would be five hours or so. And it would depend on whether you went through NY or up through CT and MA. But it IS probably too late.
I kinda wish I had a few decent maps, for future use, in any case.

man I wish I had some brocoli to go with my lunch. Why so you can set up a little miniature town while you eat?

Brocoli there in the foreground...

How old is she, Rosie? 14? She will be, yeah. Gosh that makes me feel old!
Mentally she's younger than that, though. She's kinda delayed a bit...always has been.

Sigh... according to Mapquest, NYC is about halfway, and wouldn't THAT just be fun - not if I'm driving in.
Darn, why must my brainwaves always come too late?

Steve's gonna beg the OSU financial aid dept. for help paying for this last year of college. He needs our last two tax returns...I gotta meet him and give them to him.
Wish him luck...see you later...

Let me know if you're going to be around this Sunday afternoon. I'm driving the kids up for a summer camp for the week in VT. Maybe we can get together for an early supper or something. I'll let you know more as the week progresses.

We're meeting up with friends on Sunday, or may be...or in any case some of the younger guys will be. So I guess that probably won't work. BUT, we'll be headed south to meet up with them, so maybe it WOULD work, since we were planning to hang out with them in the morning and head back in the afternoon. Where in Vermont are you coming? Fairlee again?
