Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Ohhh...LOL!!!
No, the girls are penned up now, did you know? We had to give them their own section of the yard, a long time ago. They are fenced off.
They don't get to watch TV.

Ooh...I was forgetting about the three day weekend thing!
Hm...maybe we can go somewhere fun! My littlest sister wants me to take her for a "birthday trip". Her birthday isn't until the 5th, but she's learned to milk it for all it's worth. ;-) I might go somewhere fun with just her, as a treat...maybe down to Borders and to somewhere fairly inexpensive for lunch or to Friendly's for ice cream. Going out to eat anywhere is a treat for her.

*snif* I just got an email from our new pool treasurer that said "I'd like to put together a budget." *snif*
That's just beautiful. Previous treasurer/president had the books for 15 years. We never had a budget.

Sounds like this new person might be on the ball?

Sounds like this new person might be on the ball? Yeah, I think so. She works in the banking industry so she's got the right financial/numbers mentality that just escapes me.
I don't think there was any hanky panky going on with the other treasurer. But I'm fairly certain we lost track of some of the funds due to poor record keeping.

Wish I'd thought ahead a little. We could have planned something, to meet somewhere in New York or something...

Probably. Doubt we could find anywhere, and I have no camping gear anyway... and what's halfway between, anyway? New York... you know what would have been fun? Niagara Falls. I've been a half dozen times and found something new and fun every time.

That's just beautiful. Previous treasurer/president had the books for 15 years. We never had a budget. That reminds me of a Dilbert cartoon I loved that reminded me of my work at non-profits. Joke went something like:
"These numbers aren't right, but they are the best numbers we have"
Punch line: "Um... If these numbers are wrong anyway, why don't we make up better wrong numbers to use?"

You have GOT to get this album. It's free from Billy Graham. It's outstanding. I just get the shivers ever time I listen...
Call this number and ask for the Free Tommy Coomes Praise Band Album "My Savior's Love".
1-877-247-2426
You have GOT to get it. It's just fantastic. I keep it playing all the time and when I'm not home I'm singing the songs on the inside, and sometimes they bust out even though I can't sing worth a flip!

I like vegetables, too! My favorite is probably potatoes--that's pO-TA-TOEs! :) Let's see, what else: corn, carrots, squash, yams, rutabaga, pumpkins, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes (which would be tO-MA-TOes, not tO-MAH-Toes), cucumbers, beans, peanuts, hot peppers, and believe it or not, brussel sprouts :)
