Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Hm...supposed to help them trim down, too?
She left for a week (or two?) to help a sick relative. My uncle was in the middle of the tobacco priming/ curing season. He slept in every bed, dirtied every sheet and towel to be had and used up all the plates. He was eating off the pot lids by the time she came back.
She said she woulda left him if she'd had a place to go. :)
Interesting tradition! Maybe I should break some eggs for the turkeys in the backyard :) They seem to be mating about now. The males have been showing off for a few weeks now :)
Another thing we did when I was little was that my Grandpa used to feed breadcrumbs to the ducks down by the lake. But now the geese have gotten overpopulated and become a nuisance, so they made that illegal.
I usually put eggshells in the compost pile.
I hate geese. Nasty, mean-tempered beasts. Not to mention they foul up any pond or lake they take possession of, pooping all over the place and attacking anyone that comes near.
When they're a loonnnnnng way up and you can just see and hear them on their way north and south...that's pretty cool. But on the ground, I hate them.
How come Bakshi Pippin periodically turns blonde?
When I have more land, I should start one o' those. Someday.
Sounds like the Dwarves visiting Bilbo! :)
Yeah. I'm just wondering if Her Highness will eat raw meat. She likes raw tuna but that's not on the diet. I think it has to be beef or chicken.
Does she like raw egg? Maybe you could mix a little of that in with the minced meat?
I know my cats love raw egg, and they're picky about a lot of meats.
Yeah, geese can be nasty! One time my brother lived in an apartment building they had staked out their territory around, and they'd often attack people trying to get in or out of the building! Fortunately there aren't too many in the immediate area. But there's a lot further south where I used to live and they pretty much ruined the public parks there, as well as taking over a large part of the zoo grounds. They do look cool flying overhead, though.
"They have a cave-troll!"
I could never get my cat to eat tuna, for some reason. He'd only eat Meow Mix.
Bunny-slippered Balrog. . .
From Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats (p.329)2 cups (1 pound) ground or chunky turkey, chicken, lean beef heart, liver or lean hamburger
1 1/2 cups boiled or baked potatoes (or 1 cup cooked bulgar or brown rice)
1/2 cup oat or wheat bran (or vegetables, such as peas, green beans, carrots or corn)
1 teaspoon vegetable oil (optional)
1,800 milligrams calcium (or 1 tablespoon bonemeal or 1 teaspoon eggshell powder)
Balenced cat vitamin
Combine all ingredients except the vitamins. When serving, add a balenced cat viamin supplying the minimum daily standards as recommended on the bottle label.
OK...so it was wheat bran. :)
Oh, hey, I started watching "Fruits Basket" today and one of the main characters is voiced by the guy who did Van-sama - they're even similar characters. I keep wanting to yell "Van-sama!"
I am proud of myself for recognizing his voice!
My cat tells me what kind of tuna to buy: she'll only eat chunk light tuna in water. She won't touch fancy albacore, low sodium, or stuff packed in vegetable oil. And she can tell the difference between opening a can of ...say, cranberry sauce... and opening a can of tuna.
Well, he is one of them Rangers. They spend a lot of time outdoors!
At one point I think there were like half a dozen actors who did the voicework for all US cartoons as well as all dubbed Japanese cartoons :) I think there's somewhat more actors who do that now, but it's still a pretty low number and I often recognize one voice in another series. Some of the voices from "Kenshin" I recognized from shows on Cartoon Network.

True--can't trust them Rangers--Barliman Butterbur says so.
And whereas Bakshi Aragorn is orange, Bakshi Galadriel is blue :)
