New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
This quote is hilarious... "People will be able to carry a firearm onto the Capitol Campus and through the airport-style weapons screening if they have a permit, don't wave the gun around and don't scare people with it, officials said Friday. "
'Morning!
Just finished grooming the cat....can't believe the size of the resulting furball.
I've got a Flylady kinda day lined up and the Cubs and Cards are on the Tee Vee today.
Morning All; got Gypsy walked and all seems quiet in the 'shire'. Heading to the recycling center then to Longview Garden Center for some plants, need basil and a couple three others.
Had a bit of excitement, the neighbors cat ambushed a male cardinal at our bird feeder. I laid hands upon said cat and explained that this sort of behavior was not acceptable. The cat was apparently chagrined and decided to release the bird (which flew off) upon which I continued to explain that we would appreciate a modicum of decorum in the future and then placed said cat outside our fence.
LSA had the hose ready the second day and reinforced the concept of civil behavior when visiting others. We shall see how the mini-drama develops.
Corin; good luck on the 'work day' hope the rest show up.
g'nad; Saturday - Town Day - swimming in the Niangua, sounds pretty cool. Taking a float trip on the Ni might be an appropriate ancillary activity for the gathering next year.
OT: LSA got some lemon basil but she says she needs the regular stuff. The Catalpas are in full bloom in the parks. Quite a showy tree.
Maybe when I get more room I'll have a basil garden. Right now I've got just the regular basil and the purple basil...I've got lemon balm, verbena, and grass, though.
Osage - Bravo for teaching certain cats that certan behaviors are unacceptable!
I've got a few errands to run today and a full day tomorrow. That Best Buddies program is having a group thing at Metro Zoo, but they scheduled it for noon. I called the Program Manager and suggested that they push it back to 1 o'clock since they are forgetting that some folks go to church. Their response? Oh well!
Sheesh! So I'll have to hustle straight from church to my Buddy Anne's house, pick her up and zip over to the zoo. If I can get there before everyone goes in, I can get the discount, otherwise I'll have to pay full price for both her and me. *aggravated*
Anyway, I'd better get going. Talk to you all later! Have a great Saturday everyone!
In the theme of the thread, I offer this:
Gandalf the Nazi English King!
Several notes of cognitive dissonance with that one...
send 'em on. these are some that my wife's aunt set out for me from her vines. I've tried them before, but planted 'em in September.
back from the work day. Went pretty well. Got our Eagle Scout and his entire family (they're Mormons, there's a lot) down there workin' on the playground. That's his Eagle project. So that's a good thing. Still have some basic cleaning up to do, but we'll bring the guards in on Friday night to finish that.
Best thing is I passed of the treasure stuff. And when I explained what was confusing to me, she knew what I was talking about and didn't think it was a problem. Major burden off'n Corin's back.
Think I'm gonna hit the flea market and then run by a garden store for some pesticides. Sevin...that's what I need for my 'maters? right?
you want I should send you some bobcat pee? gotta get that stuff out and see if it runs off the voles and the chipmunks.
Cats'll run off the voles....probably the chipmunks too.
We only have two "regular" cats in the neighborhood. Miss Abby is declawed so she don't go out.
I keep putting our cats outside and they keep coming back...
Wow, it's a lovely day here. Sun is shining... have a few errands to do before we go see the movie. I hope you take pictures of your grapevines.
Corin: re: the bobcat pee, I think you and g'nad discussed this very subject a while back. :-)
also re the Grapevines. Those Ozarkian ones are something else, can be 3-4 inches around (I've measure some at 6" diameter) and they will grow 30-40 feet long, tough stuff.
Glad we didn't have to go through the landfill entrance, there were 25 cars and trucks parked in line waiting to get through the gate, and likely that many inside waiting to be weighed or measured. The Recycling Center had its own entrance.
Off for plants. SYL
Sigh...I'm still here. Got caught in the "can I just run out for a minute?" crossfire, "Nana can watch Luke when she gets out of her shower."
That was an hour and a half ago. Nana just got in the shower.
I shoulda run whilst I had the chance.
Mornin' LF! Well, Afternoon.
Hi everybody... Aunt Cheryl and I watched movies till 4AM. LOL
I think we're gettin' our days and nights backwards. But, we're havin' fun.
Oh my gosh! You're right. That's a good one.
Hey, I got kinda cool news. My cousin Jason, Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Lynn's son, builds targets for a local range here. That's where Jason and I ran out to to shoot after I found out I didn't have to go home the other day. The guy has said that he'll give me that firearms safety course that's required here for half price 'cause of Jason. I might actually come take it now.
Sad thing.... I am out of bullets. Have been in WF all this time with no place to go shoot and I made up for it this week. LOL
Alas, I am still a lousy shot.
It continues to tickle me everyday to hear about Gypsy. I'm so glad that she's got you and LSA now!
Love the disciplining of the cat! I'm sure it woulda been entertaining to watch. :-)
I had a weird thing happen with basil this year. My basil has always reseeded. It didn't happen this time! I gotta plant some new! Glad it's quick and easy!
Yep. That's good stuff. You should show us pictures of your gardenin' sometime!
Aunt Cheryl and I went out to steal peaches yesterday. We got caught! Fortunately it was from her baby brother, my uncle Brent. hehehe... He's gonna let me take enough peaches home to make some more peach habenero jelly. :-)
funkle me!
Okay Suzi... I've copied your style again!
Woo Hoo! I had a Garage Sale this morning, and when all was said and done, from about 15 boxes of stuff I brought up, I'm taking 2 back down to the basement, and hauling 7 more to the local Thrift store on Monday. The basement is still crowded with stuff, but not as much as was there last night!
I'm VEY tired though!
